Default Possible 97 purchase need help

Guys I am new to this forum and selected it over others for obvious reasons. Now to the business at hand, I am looking at a 1997 arena red tan interior 28k miles for sale. They are asking 73k but the car had the wheels chromed, I explained to them that a reduction in price was required to offset that detail. They agreed and the price right now is about 4k lower. The other thing that is bothering me is the brake caliper, they are silver? I thought "Big Reds" were the actual color other than black, which is what’s on my 97 Carrera S.

the titanium finish on the calipers was an option. I think it cost a couple thousand. they are just painted. for a few hundred you can powder coat them red if you like. check the option code under the hood and on the left of this page under general is option code decoder. btw you can pick up a good set of original wheels in perfect conditon for under $1500.
be sure to have a ppi done by qualified shop. extremely necessary with leakdown and compression test. if you don't know of one ask on this forum and I am sure someone does. good luck. arena red is the poster colour for these cars and very nice indeed.
good luck. please post pics.

Thanks Turbodan! I did check the option sticker and decoded it with my own decoder supplied in the essential companion. Yes will do if the dealer takes offer. The car is not completely optioned the way I would like it but I can live with it. My 97 Carrera S is very highly optioned and hopefully both will be in my garage together. Prices have softened a bit on these cars and hopefully I will be able to pick this one up, if not then I can wait.

atcbi5, I tried sending you a PM, but you don't have that set-up in your user profile. I have some knowledge on the car you are looking at.

Cool I wasn't aware of this. Does anyone have a picture? Is it the same silver finish as on the C4 calipers??

Thanks

tell me tell me I e-mailed them and gave them an offer but have not got a reply. I probably insulted them but considering that car and the particular specifics of that vehicle, I deemed it proper and stand my ground. If they don't take it I guess I can just wait. That's how I purchased my current 993 and it worked my way.
