Default UK 993 tt for sale.

Sadly the time has come for my 993 tt to be sold. If anyone is interested the details are here:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/550799.htm

Thanks for your advice, I have been an interested observer of the forum over the period of my ownership.

Slightly OT: Could you please explain the deal with UK "private plates"? I see various moderately interesting vanity plates being advertised for sale in British car mags for lots of money.
Good luck w/sale. Midnite/Black is an uncommon and desirealble combo here in the US.

A "cherished plate" (as they call them in the UK) are completely unlike US vanity plates.

For a plate to be legal in the UK, it has to at some point have been distributed by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency). You cannot just choose a plate and have it issued - instead you have to find and purchase a plate that's already been issued by the DVLA. The older the plate, the less digits it tends to have (hence shorter) - and the more expensive it tends to be... we can be talking 80, 90 or even 100 years old...

By way of update the car is not yet sold.

I logged on to a site called www.911uk.com from a friends house to post an ad on that site and had a quick look at the posts. My work web filter does not allow access to the 911uk site and I don't have a connection at home (soon to be remedied!). I discovered that a thread had been started with a link to my ad headed "Cheap 993 tt". Good publicity I thought, but reading down the thread many were suggesting that my car was so cheap there must be something wrong with it and the last post suggested the car had a dodgy\bad history. Neither of these are true.

When I bought the car I had a full PPI done at a leading independant and had a full history check. Neither of these flagged any problems. The car is priced to sell and reflects the (highish) mileage.

I find the 911uk posts very frustrating as they may impact on the sale process and unfortunately I only managed to log in and get the moderator to remove the offending posts about a week after they had been made.

The car is my pride and joy and the sale process is difficult enough without those kind of comments. Not much I can do about it now though.

If this ad had hit in say, 6 months (maybe a bit more) I'd be all over it!

Stunning car and I wouldn't let the price put me off...

Sometimes internet forums are very frustrating .... lots of would be keyboard dealers, many with little or no clue.

Hope the sale works out

Hi Phelix!

Nice to see you're still around.

I'm around the corner at Fat Face now (the HQ) as a systems engineer. My 911 days are long behind me (I own a stonking great V8 now) but I'm hoping to be back as a turbo owner.... where abouts are you these days?
