I have a bent wheel and I am deciding whether to purchase another stock wheel or go with RUF wheels. My mechanic tells me that RUF wheels are heavier than stock. Are there other differences between the two that I should know about. Thanks in advance for any counsel on this matter.

If you are comparing the stock 18" hollow spokes with the Ruf 19" aluminum wheels, there are a large number of differences, and those Ruf wheels are considerably heavier than those stock wheels. I don't have the numbers at hand, however.
Ruf also makes a set of modular wheels that are lighter, and they make their "iconic" wheel in both 18" and 19" and in various widths. Ruf makes ALL of their wheels to fit a narrow body car, so you will always need a (approx) 1" spacer for the rear wheels.
On the plus side... Ruf wheels are VERY strong, and are virturally immune from bending as is common in the hollow spoke wheels.

Got this from a thread on here a while back. Each front RUF wheel weighs 27.5 pounds; each rear RUF wheel weighs 30.0 pounds. For comparison, an 8.5 x 18 BBS RS-GT weighs 21.2 pounds, and a 10 x 18 BBS RS-GT comes in at 22.1 pounds.
The figures for the RUF wheels come from the RUF Auto Centre in Carrollton, Texas.

What are the recommended spacers for the front & rear wheels for a 993 twin turbo? Also, what brand of spacer do you recommend?

How about Volk TE37 Porsche wheels ?
I got mine yesterday after half year waiting..![bowdown](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bowdown.gif)
I weighted them,
Front : 18 x 8.5 offset 50 : 8.2 kg (18 lbs)
Rear : 18 x 10.5 offset 40 : 9.1 kg (20 lbs)
That's about 8 kilos (17.6 lbs) off from rolling weight compared to the Porsche "lightweight" hollow spoke wheels (18x8/18x10) !

PS the color of my car will be shiny black, so then these bronze wheels look much better.

Do you have the 19x11" version in the rear?
What spacers do you run f/r?
Tire sizes?
Most important: Do you perceive the ride to be much harsher with the 19" rufs compared to the 18" twists? I mean the reduced sidewall height would lead to a stiffer ride I would imagine? Feel every bump?

Viggo,
I also have the 11x19" whels on the rear, I use a 1" (approx) Ruf spacer, and use 315x25x19 rear tires (255x30x19 on the front 8.5x19" wheels). These tires have the advantage of being the approximate same diameter as the stock 18" size, and fit the wheels perfectly. There is no rubbing, no spacer on the front, and the ride is quite firm... just the way I like it!

Sounds good Steve, they look fabulous! Do your wheels also have the hyper silver finish like the turbo-s wheels? so 255 fits up front without rubbing? No rolling fenders?
I wonder if the wheels would look too big with the big reds? I don't have the monstrous RUF 17" rotors..

Viggo,
Haha. 15" rotors. There are several people running 19" Ruf wheels with stock brakes. Start a thread and ask for photos. Yes, mine are hyper silver, and I recently had them redone with the factory Ruf paint ($250/qt!!!!!! You gotta love those guys.). Yes, none of my fender lips are rolled under. And, I'm running a fairly non-aggressive, street camber setting.

Thank's for the info Steve. It's definately one of the type of wheels I am considering.. It's just.. I don't think hey look right without the CTR-2 bumper covers, like you have.. So I guess that has to be budgeted for too
