Default 96 TT Price Check

I am giving consideration to putting my 96 TT up for sale and want to obtain some market intelligence about asking price. It is midnight blue/grey with 8400 original miles. No body or paintwork. I have a COA and sticker. It has the Porsche phone, 3M Bra, 6-Disc Changer, leather dash, e-brake, etc. The seats are supple leather. I would appreciate some feeback. The original sticker was $114k+

Thanks,

DW

for one like that 95k minimum but you need to find the right buyer/collector

Did you buy that car from that dealership in St. Louis, MO, I forget the name off the top of my head. Nice looking car, difficult to say how much you may get for it.

Default 993 TT Price Check

Thank you for the kind words about the car! No, I purchased it out of Springfield Mo from Willhoit. I am in no really hurry to sell; just gathering some information because the variance in the prices for what appear to be comparable cars seems so high.

Hi DW,

Nice car. Looks like the pictures from Premier Motorsports. I think that was for sale at the time I was in the market for one. Thats where I got mine about 6 months ago. I still follow the market quite closely. These cars asking/selling price I feel fall very closely to the performance of the stock market. I think real transactions of cars trading hands with low mileage are non existant at asking prices you see. I think I paid the high price at around Aug right before the stock market started to have hiccups. I paid 77K for a black/grey with 23K miles. At that time good ones are getting snatched up quickly. If the price was below 80K. I called two other dealers and both were sold for around 75K with 20K miles on them. However there have been very high asking prices on examples with under 10K miles on them and I've seen the price reduced significantly. Chicago motorsports had an asking price of 130K black on black with 4500 miles on it. Last time I remember seeing it had an asking price of around 110K. Marshall had a ridiculous one with something south of 2K black on tan and bidding stopped at around 109K. reserve not met. I feel black cars can sell alot easier. all the low mileage vehicles at sloan or rpm I dont think have moved at their current asking prices. I honeslty think that your car is worth around 95K but I don't think you can get it unless you wait and find a buyer that wants the midnight blue, which is a great color. Ask 85K and I think it will sell right away.

using the formula 100k minus miles equals $92500.
but if you are not in rush to sell...who cares?
but I guess with the low miles you can't really drive it...oh well

Default 96 TT Price Check

Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts with me about pricing the 96TT. This is very helpful.

The car was originally sold by Premier to a fellow who had it for all of two weeks before deciding he wanted a Turbo-S. I am therefore techically the third owner. Willhoit and Premier share common showroom space.

The incredible aspect about the Midnight Blue color is that it looks different in every light. It can shade from almost black to a dark deep purple with every share in between. I believe this color was only available as a stock color in 96 on the TT, replaced in subsequent years by Ocean Blue, which is a very different color.

Thanks again!

Pretty amazing market for these cars over the years. This makes me feel like I got a pretty good deal six years ago when I paid 86k for mine with similar miles (36,000 now ).

The 993 TT is a special car and the market reflects that fact. To wit, the depreciation rates on cars that Porsche built after 1998 appear to be comparable to American cars.

Agreed! Particularly when you factor it the robust (bulletproof) build quality.

The 914-6 in my avatar is Adriatic Blue. I have had the car for about two years and it is a good deal of fun in a primitive sort of way. By the way, 914-6 market seems to be appreciating quite nicely, but I digress.

He is thinking of Premier Autos were Michael has his office. They display their cars on 2 cement slabs as seen in the picture. The building in the background is Premier autos. http://www.premiercars.com/

Nice car, good luck with the sale but lately all the really nice ones are going overseas which is a shame for the US market in a few years time.

I am now giving a bit more serious thought to selling my TT. I have only put a few hundred miles on it since I last posted - not enought time to drive it. I know the market is down, but don't know how far down for this car. I would appreciate some feedback before I set a price.

Many thanks in advance for your counsel!
