Default My 993TT vs. C6 or C6 Z06 which was it?

I came across a black C6 Corvette on the highway yesterday(or rather he came across me as I was in the slow lane). Didn't get a chance to look at his front fender for the badge and it was a black car so I couldn't see the rear vents or tell if the fender flares or rear spoiler were slightly larger than normal. As far as I can tell from the rear it is very hard to tell the two apart.

I was able to catch him up and had to lift off a few times. I would have been able to pass him had there been the room.

This tells me that it had to be a normal C6 and not a Z06. Assuming FVD is correct and thier ECU brings the stock engine hp to 440(sounds high to me from a just chip) the Z06 would still have at least 60hp on me, double the displacement and probably weighs 100lbs less(or more). The C6 has to be much more aerodynamic than the 993 as well.

I don't have any performance mods other than FVD chip and exhaust. Front trunk is cleaned out(no tools or spare tire) and I have a lightweight racing battery(~9lbs). Again I don't think this would make a huge difference.

So if it was a Z06 I would have gotten my doors blown off right?

Without a doubt. Z06 is a mighty fast car.

Yes I would think so, those Z06 are very tough to beat, on and off the track by the 483BHP version of the 996 GT2s, they are great value for money IMO, but they are just not to my taste other than for the extreme fun factor of driving them sideways.

I have a Ruf 993 Turbo R and I drive with Z06's often. They are about the same under 130 with 91 octane. Over 130 the Ruf pulls on it pretty noticeably. 60 to 130 is about the same for both cars.

the easiest way to tell the difference is by the wheels z06 runs on 19s wheels look much more aggressive than c6 c6 runs on 18s. I am glad to hear 993 turbo r will pull from a z06 refreshing

Well, I for one, think that's quite interesting news.

When you are 'in the boost zone' these old cars are as fast (or faster) as almost anything.... ;-)

I assume this comment is about the Z06 since I know this to be untrue for the normal C6.

To the other replies, thanks for confirming that it was a non Z06 as I thought.

One can hope right?

Well put and it certainly feels that way! I don't have much seat time in my TT but the G forces applied to my neck on acceleration and braking are outstanding for a car today, never mind 11-12 years ago!

Standard C6 I would guess... Otherwise, I'm investing in FVD!!
A pal own a C5 Z06. We are pretty much even on highway runs. A normal C6 is about the same as the old C5 Z06 I was told.

A C6 Z06 would just destroy my poor 993TT... Very powerful and light
My car is stock tough... My 0.02 anyway!
