More like this:

But as you can see with the black Z06 in this picture the black color hides the rear wheel brake inlet. The wheels looked chrome, but they were spinning, couldn't tell 18" vs 19" at speed and they could have been aftermarket. He had tinted windows including the rear so I couldn't tell if the rear 3rd brake like was slightly larger or not as I had nothing for reference and the black color and black tinted windows hid this feature even more so. The same with the fender flares. I didn't think to look at the front fender for the Z06 badge for the few seconds that he was at my side.

He was only next to me for a few seconds and then I was right behind him. Again the fact that I caught him up at that speed (and could have gone around him had it been safe to do so) makes me certain it was a normal C6, but I figured I'd check here anyways since I don't have a baseline or feel for how fast my 993TT is yet. It certainly feels fast!

Correct.

As far as I can tell from the rear it is very hard to tell the two apart.

I was able to catch him up and had to lift off a few times. I would have been able to pass him had there been the room.

This tells me that it had to be a normal C6 and not a Z06. Assuming FVD is correct and thier ECU brings the stock engine hp to 440(sounds high to me from a just chip) the Z06 would still have at least 60hp on me, double the displacement and probably weighs 100lbs less(or more). The C6 has to be much more aerodynamic than the 993 as well.

I don't have any performance mods other than FVD chip and exhaust. Front trunk is cleaned out(no tools or spare tire) and I have a lightweight racing battery(~9lbs). Again I don't think this would make a huge difference.

So if it was a Z06 I would have gotten my doors blown off right?
Hey Jenner,

Anytime you want to throw it up on the dyno...let me know . We'll see how how close to 440 it is.

Makes sense that a TT rated at 440 hp will walk away from a stock C6 rated at around 400 hp. No way was it a Z06, unless the driver was in 5th gear and you were in 3rd when you both took off.
I posted a thread titled 993 TT vs C6 just the other day with many reads, but no replies. I am a regular in the 993 board, but wanted to know how the TT's fair against the C6 (not Z06). I played with a C6 the other day in 3rd, 4th and
5th gear runs and was surprised with the outcome. Any stock TT's run up against a base C6?

Hey Tony!

I'll admit I am curious. After all the years of "fake" numbers from GIAC, APR, Vortech, and many other tuners I've used on all the different cars I've owned, I have no doubt that the FVD #'s aren't as high as they claim.

What's the rate for a couple of pulls? I couldn't find it on your website. Also are you ever open on Saturdays?

That's what I thought. Since my Turbo is new to me, and I've only had past experience with a C5 405hp Z06, I figured I would post to see others experiences which I got and confirmed what I thought.

Just shot you a PM.

Let me know. We can always do a few cars the same day if anyone else is interested in a 993tt dyno day .

I have driven and owned a few Corvettes over the years and was only slightly impressed with the standard C6. I had a friend from NJ leave me his car (C6) for a week when he drove to Miami to go on a cruise out of the P O MIA. He also left me a box of parts to put on the car while he was away. Before I did anything to the Corvette I beat him by 2 car lengths in my SRT8. After a K & N, ECU download, cat back exhaust and a set of MSD wires was he able to just beat me by a nose. The only things that my car has is a Jet tuner and a K & N. For some reason the C6 just doesn't feel as fast as it should. Now the new Z06 is another story. It is a super car bargain..... I would love to lease one for 12 months, which is about 1 month shy of when it will probably fall apart.........

So how does the TT compare to the SRT8 on a straight line run?

If you really want to find out, forget the dyno, it can show you whatever you want....a better idea would be to do a GPS run up to 150mph, then do only an ECU swap, and then do another set of identical runs with the changed ECU, you will be served My bet is on the FVD for stock K16s.
