Just thought I'd add my opinion....performance, cache, value...overall experience...PORSCHE...hands down...even with mods your car will not drop much if at all in value over the years as long as it is well maintained...if you buy that Vet in about four years it's worth will make you say what was I thinking...I agree with an earlier post...upgrade your daily driver...then when you get tired of the Porsche....upgrade that as well....you need a daily driver that is more fun for you and something that can take a hit and not have you lose sleep.

For me my Z06 has been a great DD/Track vehicle. Z06 serves as "dog mobile" ,track beater and daily driver. Ruf Turbo R is an old friend.

The twin turbo is one-of-a-kind and will never be repeated, so think long and hard if you really want to replace it with something newer. I changed to a GT3 because my car spends more time on the track than the street, but the moment I have the means, there will be a 993 Turbo in my garage again.

You can always upgrade to a 04/05 GT3 for about the same price as the Z06
OR the GT3RS is now falling into nice price ranges I saw a Black GT3 RS on RL for $140K
THAT is a great price.

I sold my first TTS for a SL65 then a new M5 (06), I'm now back with a TTS. Nothing else compares to the pure clean lines and feel of a 993 TT. After selling the TTS, I kept finding myself gravitating back to the 993 TT, especially after my occasionally 993TT sighting. Having regretted selling the TTS, and now that I'm back, I would never consider selling again, but rather adding to the garage and starting a collection...

On Saturday, I went up to Carlsen to look around at newer cars. They had a 2007 GT3 in GT Silver. It has a beautiful Alcantara interior. Very different than our "old school" interiors.
I convinced the salesperson to let me take it out for a spin. There are some good back roads out there in Menlo Park, so I got to get the car up into triple digits. Very solid and stuck to the road. The torque is nothing like the TT though. Clutch and steering much heavier.
Perhaps it would shine on the track, but for my street racing exploits, the TT is still more visceral and fun.
Maybe you guys are right. Get a Vette convertible for a DD and have no qualms about trashing it.
Will do some more thinking before making any decisions.
Thanks for all the wonderful feedback.
