Default stiff clutch...

Hi All,

I just had my 97 tt serviced at ottos in venice CA... just rutine service and I've been having an issue with the clutch getting real stiff when the car is off and intermitantly when driving... like if I'm cruising for a bit in one gear and then go to change the clutch seems a little stiffer... it also seems a little stiffer all around than usual. I had the slave cylander replaced about 2500 miles ago (2 years) for similar symptoms.

Otto said I was a little low on power steering fluid and filled it up but it didn't make a difference... BTW he wasn't too familiar with 993tt's... I'm still looking for a great technician in or around the west valley... calabasas, woodland hills, thousand oaks...

Any help on the clutch and/or someone to check it out would be great...

Thanks

I had the same issue. If I revved the engine it would be easier to push. Sure sign that the accuumulator (spelling) has died.

You might want to consider replacing your slave cylinder also.. If that fails shortly after the accumulator install you lose the $$$ you spent on the install (labor on accumulator)

Don did you have your track day??

here's a silly question... what happens if I don't do the accumulator right away... maybe wait till I'm going for another service or some other issue?... can it cause any additional harm or just build my left calf muscle?

You should be fine to wait, just keep an eye on the Pentosin reservior in the trunk. If it overflows, the slave needs replacement right away.
