Price Check - 97 TT
Excellent condition with 27k miles. Looks like 7k. Interior as new.
One owner southern US based car. All records, sticker, COA, etc.
Heavily optioned (no wood, though ) with a $115k MSRP.
All original, no mods.
Thoughts?

Price seems realistic for a car that good. Maybe you can drop a bit. People who own these cars are usually pretty bullett proof re the R word so I don't know if such an economic eventuality will have much effect on prices. Comes down to whether you like the car: colour, options etc. I still think you will see more cars for sale in the spring and in Minn you can't drive it anyway for a while. I pulled the trigger early because of a 50 year high for the Cdn dollar versus the greenback. Based on what has happened since, I saved a bundle. You don't have that incentive.

Recv'r: you could have just bought the money or entered a forward agreement on the currency or played the futures. but now you have a great car you can look at and make plans for in the spring!

Know how long you have been looking, What is the asking price? based on the above I would say between $69-$73K would be fair depending on PPI of course. You know me, the one owner is a real positive point. I have been following your posts, and see you did subscribed to car fax. Sure opens your eyes to the # of owners some of , even the low mileage cars have had.
Good luck

"97's generally add 2k over a comparable 96', at least"
After assessing the market for the past year or so, I don't really agree with this statement. Most buyers are not concerned with year, instead, condition, mileage, color, options, mods etc are the main criteria...and with so few models available for sale, condition and mileage become the number one price determining factors. Also, I don't think most buyers are knowledgeable enough to know the small differences between the two years. Lastly, there really are no two comparable cars out there, so you can not compare a '96 with a '97.. Maybe mileage and color will be similar, but condition will not, or mileage and condition are similar but one car has mods one is stock...etc.
