Amazingly Porsche managed to get the 997tt and GT3 to have lower Cds AND better lift charactaristics than the 993tt so they are even slippier for high speed runs:
993tt Cd 0.34 997tt Cd 0.29 GT3 0.29

All 993tts over 450hp "feel" like "rockets" and unsticking the wheels in 3rd and 4th can be a sympton of an abrupt torque onset. Some motors can put 200NM on between say 3750 and 4750 rpm which feels crazy for a second or so and lights the tyres up, but typically these engines will run out of puff (relatively) by 5500rpm compared to an engine with a smoother torque curve which holds on right to 7000rpm - the latter will give better performance numbers and be faster onthe track - we are lucky since using the 60-130 we can (by observing the long G line) determine the REAL torque curve of your engine

Whilst I am sure you don't care whether the number is 520 or 620, this tech forum has always been a beacon for accuracy and we have the tools (60-130) and expertise (Jean) so lets use them

TB, you're right- this forum is about accuracy and I am not claiming anything other than I have a fast 12 year old 993TT which happens to be totally stock in terms of weight(full leather,AC, hifi stereo+rear cage), alignment, and with 72k miles on the odometer. I know that if I had a secan intercooler or some really trick stuff like that it would be even cooler, but to me it's just a car that I never want to sell.

in my case, unsticking the wheels is probably due to a overly zealous (still a rookie) right foot and the addiction to xbox and sony racing games. plus I love passing people and our track only allows that on the straights. I'm barred from racing so other than doing member track days that's as far as I can go.

I've got the same engine/exhaust as the other andial guys, so if they've done 60-130 or dynos then I'm fine with whatever numbers their turbos have put down.

feb 2nd is the run, barring my hectic personal appearances and local charity tour, I'll have a 60-130 run logged with witnesses.

Man! I love the looks of my TT and how nothing out there compares except for the CGT, next to that yellow CGT it's almost plain looking.

Nice pics and write up! Enjoy the off season!

TB there will be plenty of 6speeders there with Driftboxes to log data, and then the data will be verified. It should be relatively cool temps (60F) at zero elevation, and there will be a plethora of various Proto/Evo/UMW 996tt's and Gt2's to give comparison to. I hope John Hennessey will let us put a box in his car too (08 Viper 560rwhp modded) - last time he was reluctant.

jonathan- why would I? they're the ones that blew it. all my future orders will go through Porsche Nashua (who sold me the gt3 even with last minute notice), maybe boardwalk here depending on how they handle the next 2 years of my RS4, and possibly the dealer that's cooperating on my RS acquisition. But in the mean time I've got a house in LA to save up for.

I dont blame you at all...they lost your business. Its just that my experiences were very different there, probably all about the salesman... mine (Jim Lannom) was the most professional car sales person that I have ever dealt with...ever

Nice write up and pics CJ. The CGT is definitely a true super car and I would love to own one.

The guy I bought my TT from also owned a CGT. He is a speed freak and claimed that the 993TT he sold me is faster than his CGT. However, I have never raced one.

jonathan- jim was the guy who took my deposit. maybe I'm just too young to get respect from typical porsche salespeople.

That's how I feel about Ferrari of Houston. I have gone there 4 times to check out a Quattroporte for my wife, and each time have been denied a test drive despite there being no less than 8 QP's on the lot. F-it! I'm getting her a Cayenne TT instead.
