That's because you southern Californians think "salt" is something you keep in a shaker on the dinner table.

993GT2's never had an engine tray fitted. So I would not worry about stability.

Graeme, are you 100% sure that road 993GT2s did not have the undertray fitted ?
If you read a few posts you will know that Porsche state that the 993tt should NOT be road tested without the undertray at over 90mph....

I recently reinstalled the undertray for a 190mph run and there WAS a difference (OK there were a few other things also done which may have contributed) if you do a bit more research there is a lot of good information on here, this is not PH, generally real factual stuff on here

The fact that the race 993s did not have undertrays does NOT mean that they do not have significant high speed aero benefits (remember race cars have rather large downforce appendages)

But GT2s have a lot of other aero "tricks" going for them. That rear wing more than outweighs any lift caused by not having the tray installed.

Neither the 996's nor 997's have engine trays either IIRC

That's a horse of a different color. The other underbody panels and front/rear wings and spoilers are designed around an exposed engine. The 993s aerodynamics are designed to work in conjunction with an engine tray.
