Default TT boost

If you have a long stretch of blacktop with no cops around, or on a track where you don't need to brake often, and you hold your RPM when the boost is on, does the boost stay at the same # of bars for as long as you maintain the same RPM, or does the boost come in spurts and then fade down, then come on again when you gas it some more? Does it do that only when you are above certain RPM?

Thanks.

If you put your foot down boost should come up to .8 bar and stay there as long as foot is depressed or until redline at which time I always shift. Not sure if you maintain rpm's what happens but I think boost would drop in that case. not sure if this helps

Thanks. I haven't had the chance to floor it, as our streets and hwys are rife with cops and VW Beetle sized potholes. I will try that when I get out to country roads.

BTW, what will happen if the diverter valves are bad: lower peak boost, can't hold boost, or both? Looking for justifications/alibi to replace stock diverter valves with billet ones.

Boost depends on load. Unless you're at 5,000rpm in 6th gear and therefore need a ton of power (high load) to maintain speed, you should be at 0.0bar for almost any constant rpm in 1-4.

And don't put a huge amount of faith in the factory boost gauge. Even the workshop manual says to use an external gauge to check boost!

On my goofy little Andial knee-cap guage, it pegged at 15 psi in 3rd and 20 psi in 4th, but I could not keep on it for very long as I was on the 101 freeway. (This is on the street gas program). I'll try it on the race gas program soon.
