Opinions: Bilstein HD and H&R springs
Mark at Gerber Motorsports is quoting $2700 (and I am not certain but this may not include alignment) for HD and H&R springs.
He also said that for the streets HD is just fine, whereas if I have track plans (I wish, but I just don't have the time) PSS9 would be good, otherwise PSS9 seems to be overkill and superharsh here in the sometimes ugly streets of Seattle.
Input....?
I haven't heard of that combination: usually hear about M030/HD, or PSS9, but never the H&R springs.
Does anyone also know whether how much the HD/H&R setup will lower the car compared to the stock?
Thank you.

I have the HD/H&R combo and it's great. $2700 seems a little expensive though, it should for sure include the alignment. Mine is lowered to ROW height and the ride is really good. A tremendous difference from the OEM shocks. It used to bounce sideways going around a rough corner...and now it just sticks to the road.

Thanks Bill....good to know you like it. My problem is also the bouncy travel which as you know makes it hard to find the path around a corner and makes everything in the 11 year old car rattle 10 times more than it should.

That system your looking at seems reasonably priced for what you get. However, I'm also in Seattle, have the PSS9's and like them quite a bit. There not at all too harsh for city streets and one other feature I like about them is the ability to adjust the dampening which of course effects the ride. Food for thought.

I just put the M030 springs on my car and rode it with the Bilstein HD/stock spring combo first. I found the M030 springs to be MORE compliant with less bounce than the stock springs. I have to assume the HD's valving is tuned for the stiffer M030 springs. The M030 springs appear to be progressive rate in the front and linear in the rear. I think the progressive rate front helps to take the bounce out of the front as well. I know for sure it is very settled now over a bumpy turn or transition, but I am guessing it is going to be far too soft for aggressive track work. Does anyone know the spring rates? I am thinking in the 200-300# range

I have Bilstein HD's with H&R springs. Very happy for street use only, no tracking.

FYI - their are specific M030 rear springs for the Turbo that were a tad stiffer in the rear to compensate for the additional weight. The M030 springs are color coded for each application - I can't remember the exact color codes, but you'll find them by using the search feature.
P.S. - Too bad your not in SoCal, I have low mileage M030 springs for a Turbo that I would be willing to part with for $100. (I have gone the PSS9 route.)

Carnewals M030/Bilstein HD combo for 993 turbo, for @$1950 USD, free shipping.
Automotion has PSS9 for 993TT at $2299. Also have HDs and H&R springs for $1600.
@ 4 hours for install, plus alignment.
Does this sound about right?
How many additional hours/ how much additional costs should alignment take, in general?
Thank you!

Jim,
You might want to try Byron Tate at Truline in Bellevue for your install. They also have a shop in Seattle. Byron did my PSS9 setup and I was very happy with his service. I can't recall exactly what I paid, but I believe it was around $1k for the complete install and setup, which included corner balance and alignment. He'll adjust ride height/rake according to your personal preferences, driving habits, etc.
