All,

How rare is the rear seat delete (option 419) on 993 turbos? Do any Rennlisters have this option?

As silly as it may sound, is it possible to add the rear seats on a car offered with this?

Pretty rare option, a few have it and several have added it. Should be possible to add seats, what color interior do you have?

It is not easy to add rear seats. The mounting hardware for the seat backs is not installed at the factory. The center mount is available from the dealer, but the side mounts are not. I had to buy the parts out of a wrecked car. Since the salvage yard didn't understand what I wanted, they dropped off the following (all I needed were the brackets circled):



You will also need a new rear panel as the rear seat delete car will not have the holes for the shoulder belts you will be buying. The good news is the attachment points for the seat belts are installed already.

I have an S with this option. If I could I would rather the seats to let my kids sit in the back.

just buy one with the rear seats if you have or plan on having kids...much easier. rear seats are much more common .

That's exactly why I was asking with one kid and one on the way, the rear seats are pretty essential.

I picked the turbo S because it was about the fastest, and certainly the coolest, car with a back seat. I passed on couple of 993s with the delete and the whole F-car brand (456s just too lame) based on the rear seats. Sounds silly, but it would absolutely have killed my son to not have that rear seat. I use it all of the time.

I had one. Took it out and added rear seats. Only pain was matching the rear seats. If you have black interior, it will be easy.

Better yet. Get a car w/ rear seats U will need to spend about $2,000 to add the rears.
