Default New to the 993 turbo and I have a few questions

Hi everybody.

I picked up a 1996 midnight blue turbo over the summer, and I have a few questions. When I bought the car, I could tell that it had accumulator and clutch slave cylinder issues (I did some Rennlist research ahead of time ). The clutch was really stiff before I started the car (accumulator), and the clutch felt notchy on release (slave cylinder).

Anyway, the slave cylinder finally blew, as evidenced by the pool of hydraulic fluid now residing in the trunk. I plan on working on this over the holidays and want to get the parts ready ahead of time. Here are the questions:

1) Should I go with the oem accumulator, or the Corteco brand (link) I'm tempted to try the Corteco since obviously the oem unit has issues, but I haven't found any info on it. Is it a direct fit?

2) How much pentosin hydraulic fluid is required to refill the whole steering/clutch system? I would consult my manual, but it's currently no where to be found.

3) Anyone know of the cheapest place to find the slave cylinder? The best price I have found is at Vertexauto for $739.

Thanks for the help. I look forward to learning a whole lot more and maybe even contributing a little along the way

Cheers,
Chris

Suncoast porsche had a bunch of 993 stuff last yr, oem, dirt cheap. If not, there is a company called 'dall automotive' or something that has oem porsche parts at cheap prices. Also try sunset porsche. GL.

1 liter of fluid for the system. I suspect that Corteco makes the factory accumulator, not enough volume for true aftermarket parts. I'd use all oem parts, they may have updated the design and there is a warranty of sorts. Sunset Porsche is the place.

I replaced the slave cylinder and accumulator a few months ago with OEM parts purchased from Sunset Imports. The accumulator part # appears to have been updated (new # 996-314-166-00). The slave, accumulator and two liters of pentosin came in cheaper than the price you posted.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I placed an order with Sunset Imports...they had the best prices.
$547.32 for the slave cylinder
$94.38 for the accumulator
They didn't have either in stock. They can get them flown over from Germany in 2-12 days for an extra 15%.
They weren't able to ship the Pentosin, so I had to get that elsewhere.

Thanks again. I appreciate the help.

Haha, well I'm afraid you're going to have to kick me out of here because I don't have any pictures of it yet.

I'll be sure to post some when I find some time on a nice sunny day. The 993 turbo is such a gorgeous car!
