Thanks!
That 997 Headlight conversion is just one nice thing to do and that would also help the car to go very fast
Not yet 100% sure about that mod but I'll consider that seriously at same when we try that windscreen mod..
See picture how they look

why don't you use 996 headlights :-)

serious, you are bringing a lot of fresh thinking. I am very interested about the results of the windscreen in terms of 0-300kph times.

I never liked those 996 style headlights. It was nice to see that they(Porsche) realised that those lights weren't very nice looking and not real porsche style
That headlight mod would be quite easy if I could get 997 front fenders and cut original ones and weld those new ones for them..

Jussi, have you thought about smoothing out (eliminating) the rain channels? That would reduce your frontal area and reduce wind resistance.

Thumbs up

Jussi,
the headlights really "fit".
The question is the mods to be done to install them.

I noticed the very interesting front bumper. Can you post please some photos?

Original topic was to find out what 0-200 times other powerful 993TTs can achieve if using little "optimization"

But what comes to that "911 special windscreen" project, those pictures are from DP Motorsport. You can find their DP993 project car from picture gallery.

There are pictures from that windscreen and also from that front spoiler - which is quite cool looking btw..

Jussi,

For your reference, here is my 0-200kph done some time back on my 100% stock 993TT ( I never tried with my modded 993TT) on the road. This is on 50% worn out street tires (P Zeros), only one try, it was quite good.
0-100kph in 4.4s
100-200kph: 10.7s
0-200kph: 15.1s

Here is some data from other modified 993TTs and GT2s:

Finally, here is how the 964 looks with the 997 front headlights.. I don't like it, the car looks "dumb" As far as the aerodynamic advantage, it should be a decent gain at high speeds. I would not do that to my 993 even for the gains. Maybe the slant 964 turbo "S" headlights would look better, these are too large IMO.

As far as your optimized shiftsto get to less than 9seconds, bear in mind that the shifting in 1st-2nd. gear takes more time than the rest of the gears as a result of the RPM drops that are higher than the rest.. Moving to a theoretical 0.25 seconds across shifts is not really feasible.

Jussi

A good German friend of mine who knows everything Porsche has reminded me of at least three other 911s with the DP sloped windscreen that have already been tested in magazines, besides the DP car itself, so I believe that there are quite a few more than 3 in the world. Back in the late 80s and early 90s these mods were being used quite often on some cars that wanted to beat records for their owners..

One of them was the Red 964/993 RS Tuning that we know about, another was a white 930 turbo that was built by the guru ex-partner of Reinhold Shmirler (before RS built the 993 bodied sloped windscreen) and it was the RUF Yellowbird killer back at the time (I have the article at home), and the third is the one here below that was used on a 930 turbo with all sorts of interesting mods such as 959 headlights (looks MUCH better than 997TT ones), some funky wheel covers (Sportec did the same 20 years later), a special rear wing, special Mazda MX5 door handles, etc.. The car was a 3.3 ltr running between 0.8-1.3 Bar and had 560 HP and 620 NM of torque and did:

0-100kph: 4.3s
0-200kph: 11.0s
0-300: 27.9s
Max. Speed : 348kph (216mph) on 17" wheels.

There are quite a few out there more it seems, but not necessarily covered by magazines.

It does look like a must do for record braking numbers.

Jussi, what about a new headlight lens, or simply a fiberglass fairing to fit over them for high speed runs? If the glass went from the top of the headlight to the front of the headlight "cut-out," the angle of the glass would be much shallower.

Jean
Tell me that 5th "bicycle" wheel didn't stick on there at 300kph

If those peak numbers are correct 560hp and 620NM, just what sort of power/torque curve did it have 620NM @ 6400rpm is about 560hp so it either had a completely flat peak torque "curve", torque peaked at 6400rpm or the the power/torque numbers are out

From the era, it will be a fixed boost with no knock sensing and plenty of fuelling so I am going with the "flat" torque curve

Good point about that 5th wheel

The numbers are 565 HP at 6550 RPm and 620NM at 5200 RPM. The article is in German but there is a mention of "Motronic" in there I will check it out in more detail with some time.

Good memory Christian! Here is the link: http://www.cartronic-motorsport.de%2...r_revanche.pdf
