going to upgrade to FVD intercooler hoping the boost will be more stable at the end
I would advise DO NOT buy a 993turbo intercooler from FVD, they work no better than standard.
If you look at the pics on their site it seems even they are confused about what they are selling.
The pic top right is from a marketing pic from TTP who made these "V" intercoolers originally, I bought one and tested it and it is actually worse than stock at cooling, they will tell you it flows better but this means nothing.
The pic on the top left is a different intercooler (note there is no "V" at the back)
The two at the bottom look like the "V" one again....... so they are confused but will probably tell you they are using new much better cores now days which do work..... they may work but look at the evidence....
A better solution is have a look on this forum where a poster fabbed an intercooler using 997GT2RS cores, these are cheap to buy and his Frankenstein cooler worked really well.
Rather than intercooler change I would put a set of cams that go with the kit This will bring more power than any other mod for you at this stage, coupled with a matching FVD ECU.
Power kits boosting beyond 1.1-1.2 bar will cause cylinder head leakage with time, some more than other depending on how well tuned they are. I would add cylinder head sealing rings.
With that being said you can drive it for many thousand miles depending on condition of your engine. Enjoy it.
