996 to 993 Turbo
Hello. I have had my 02 996 Cab for about 2 years and I am thinking about trading for a 993TT. I just love the lines and the raw interior, etc. Can anyone give advice on a place to start to gather info, or things to look for? I have found this site with a few for sale and I am interested in the black one. Thanks for the help.

I would recommend buying Adrian Streather's 993 book, which can be found on Amazon.com. It has some great info. Definitely have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done on any car you want to buy. I recommend having it done at an independent shop. You can normally post on here and find a good shop in almost any area. 993tt.com has some good info on these cars.
I will probably create a thread later today called something along the lines of "Comprehensive PPI" which is a list of pretty much everything that should be checked out on a 993tt. I had it done by a shop, although a lot of it can be done by the buyer if the car is local. Good luck on your search.

I recently went back to the 993tt after a long journey that included a 996 as well as a Cayman S. All I can say is you will be very happy with the switch. As far as Premier is concerned, they have nice cars and seem to know the cars. You might try Willhoit motors also, they are litertly next door and always have at least one. I bought mine from Ray Joseph at RPM motors. He realy knows his stuff.
Above all don't be afraid to include the entire U.S. in your search, this site is full people who either know of shops that can do PPIs or will help you with questions. PCA clasified is also a good source of leads. The search is half the fun of buying one and they realy did not make that many! Good Luck

BTW--- I think I saw the black car on E-bay when I was looking, If I am right they bought the car from A person in Pa. and put it on their site. Nothing wrong with that, but you ought to get a 1 month subscription to CAR FAX it only cost $!7.95 and you can run as many VINs as you like for 30 days. You would like to keep the number of owners as low as possible for obvious reasons. A good number of these cars were leased from new and lost their petigree along the way. Most cars on e-bay have VINs listed with them and you can start to track them as to # of owners, # of diffrent states they were registered in ect. It provided me with a good data bank of histories and were useful in making a choice. But then again, I am an engineer by training.

You got it, intensively seach the net and check pre owned at porsche web site. I found my 993 tt on consignment at a Seattle dealer. Two owner, 16,882 mi, pmi passed, fax was clean and plenty of pics were sent to me before I purchased at 71K. If you buy out of state be sure to have a doc signed to your agreement of condition.
