In theory we will be able to flash load 8 different programs at once.. One would be able to load comparision programs side by side..

I need to add the it will be for all years, including the early ECU's.
That will be a giant step forwards in convenience / functionality. Bring us bang up to date.

I am not on a first name basis with Hartmut Kristen. I assume that Sprintrider is not either. That is why I am advocating UMW. Everybody on this board knows Kevin and he regularly checks the threads. I'm guessing a post titled "Hey Kevin!" on this board would get a more quick, personalized response than an email to FVD's general tech support with the subject "Hey Hartmut!"

I'm still unclear as to what your comment is supposed to mean.

Sounds great. I am sure we all look forward to more info and what the improvements these 8 programs offer.

Keep us posted.

As for the other comments, I have no doubt Kevin is the one I would prefer to work with. He is clearly responsive as we can see from this and other tuning threads. I am simply looking at options within a certain price range and attemting to gain knowledge about these mods.

Some of the other members are very tuned in on this but I think many of us are less savvy with regards to the technical differences and consequences of going with the wrong upgrade.

What am I missing here how can one utilise 8 programs ?

OK perhaps a "valet" mode for those who let other people drive their cars, and maybe one to maximise some sort of race juice but surely for 99% of tts the normal program would give enough timing for race juice given the other likely restraining/limiting factors (primarily elevated IAT)

What could one use the other 5 for ? Surely one of the main benefits of Motronic timing and boost control is that one properly developed program deals with all eventualities ? Seems like a bit of a red herring to me (OK, apart from the valet mode) when a properly programmed single program would be the best option

Or a 60-130mph mode!

Most likely this means it is not Gunther Mandl's customized programming anymore.

I would think that several of the programs would be related to the octane of the fuel used.

I could see 4 - valet, stock, street (optimized for 92/93 octane) and race gas

If you are not adding any other components (just new software) then I could see having "stock" (408PS) and "street 92/93" (~430PS) ....but as soon as you start altering other comonents the "stock" program becomes useless ?

Maybe he is going to load up some of his competitor's programs so you can compare.

The stock file will be used for low boost or low power. I'm sure that you have had a situation where weather has come in where you wish you could switch to a .6bar program. Yes, the file is useless from a performance standpoint. The factory file does a great job at boost control when one has larger turbochargers mounted..

Another useful file is for 100 octane race gas.
