I'm looking at a 96 TT with 54k km that has some rust just under the windshield driver's side.
I have a 95 993 with 82k km that is perfect body wise. Anyone else seen any rust in this spot? Canadian car which indicates PO may have driven in winter.

Thanks guys. Any car with rust usually causes me to run as fast as possible in the opposite direction which I will do in this case as well.
I'm new to the forum. Living in the Toronto area and have a nice guards 95 993 with 82k km. Stock car. No mods at all. I keep trying to convince myself that I need a 993 Turbo but every time I get close, I keep remembering how much I like my 993.

The climate really doesn't matter either way, the windshield was installed incorrectly. When they cut out the old adhesive they forgot to paint some primer on the metal body and its now rusting. With a little luck they might have forgotten to glue in the new windshield which means you might be able to reuse it. If not, you are looking at $1000USD for a new windshield plus the body work which will at a minimum cost about the same. It always ends up worse than it looks.

I'm just having the rust issue addressed at my porsche approved bodyshop, mine is on the rear screen pillar, a very small bubble of rust has developed, but it has resulted in a full roof respray, with both screens and sunroof being removed. Mine is also the original glass in the rear, funny enough the car has had several replacement front screens in it's life but I don't have the corrosion there. The body shop is also painting the scuttle panel so that should take car of any issues that might occur in the future whilst the screen is out.
I guess a little rust on these cars is nothing to get too excited about, particularly in the UK as they are all approaching over ten years of age even the latest cars.

You need a turbo! With or without rust, it makes no difference, it's where it all starts when you start looking! Good luck, I don't regret parting with my 993 C4S for the TT, toyally different animal,

I've got some rust bubbling up as well under the right rear side window. It's not on the body panel but on the piece that fits between the glass and the body. Been wondering what is the best way to address this. I guess it's time to look for a good bodyshop? Is it easier to just replace this part?

You can just replace the piece of trim, it's a type of aluminium from memory and the water gets under the paint and causes it to blister.

Got a line on a good 96 TT with only 43k km. It's speed yellow and I'm not sure I could grow to love it Might get to like it given enough time. Anyone have one?

that's what I have and I like it even better now than when I bought it 2+ yrs ago. Of course I've always liked yellow cars - past examples are a 914, a Lola F/F and an SSC Capri.
