Super buy! Congratulations. So ... when are we going to see it at one of the local track days?

Yeah, I had some brain fade there. I was mixing up two different cars in my head that I saw at the same time. Below is a green Ruf 993 and on the other side of the CGT is a Ruf 997 that does have the fender flares. Someone there told me that it had 580hp, but that doesn't mean that it does. Thanks to bad lighting conditions and my complete lack of photography skills, you can barely make out the line of the studded fender flares on the 997. I looked around my hd and couldn't find a full side pic of the 997 for some reason.

Graeme,
WOW! What a find!
Are those seats grey,or is it just the bright sun? If so they would look nice in mine ;-)
Hope to see the car (and you of course!) at a meet soon.

If it's the 993 that had the 580hp?
The CTR2 could be a sports version, featuring an "official figure" about 570hp.

The CTR2 Sport had wider bodywork and "insider info" says it never had 580BHP on Motronic. But this is the GT2 thread, we will pick it up elsewhere.

How sloppy of me, didn't think of the bodywork.
Reg. hp-figures, I've heard the same, but in this thread I'll stick to the "official figure".

You are about to keep smiling for quite some time, it is great to have GT2 owners here.

I just wanted to say that the EVO that you are mentioning were the race versions not the road versions, which is the one you have. The street versions had no changes in cams and heads vs the previous 430HP engine. Just the KKK24 turbos and ECU programming.

You will need to pay attention to the wheels, they are Magnesium and are known to crack with time, it is just a matter of having them checked regularily.

Thanks Jean, Mark and all the guys.
Believe you me I am no technical expert but according to Andy Fearns they do run much higher lift cams, something like 2.3 instead of 1.3 I think he said from memory, he could be wrong. Yep wheels are a problem. I'm enclined to take them off the car and keep them pristine and buy a set of aluminium centred BBS wheels for it. Much like the speedlines on the 964 3.6 they are just too high maintenance and you have the added concern that they might crack. The last thing you would want is a wheel letting go.
Seats are black outers with grey centres. I met the dealer yesterday at Silverstone for the first time, real nice chap. The last time he bought a set of those seats for a customer was about three years ago, they cost 9300 euro the pair and they come in kit form. He was saying it took 9 months for Porsche to eventually supply all the parts needed for the seats. They are unusual as if you lift the seat squab they have no seat base. Best way to describe, it looks like a trampoline, ie material and small hooks into the framework. Effectively you could not put six point harnesses in.
thanks once again, Graeme

Hi Graeme,

I am pretty sure that the 911 GT street (95-97, 430-450BHP versions) run the same profile as the stock 993TT engine.. If I am not mistaken the 2.3mm would need mechanical rockers. There is often confusion between EVO and EVO race model and all sorts of nomenclature for those very special cars. My cams have the 2.3mm profile and use mechanical rockers.

Whetever it is, it remains a very fast car!

Graeme is that the GT2 that Tom Schmitz has(had) posted on his site? Seems he has a great collection of these limited edition GT/RS cars. How was he to work with? I have asked him to start looking for a 993 RS for me. Cheers Jeff

So far Tom has been an absolute top guy to deal with. I am very lucky that a recently made friend Vic who owns a 993GT2 Club Sport and a 73 2.4S has a very good relationship with him. (Vic very kindly let me drive his C/S at a track day at Silverstone GP the other week. Guys who know Vic said no one drives Vics car. Vics reply. Don't worry I had him checked out first. Their reply about time it got driven properly) When the deal did not go through with Mike, Vic got on the phone to Tom and said you better hurry up and sort my friend out a car. Incidentaly the picture on Toms site is of Mike's car. There were three available, a midnight 96 GT2 low miles but the guy selling keeps moving his price to Tom, another evo 11000 kilometres with no A/C in midnight that has now been sold and the one I bought in Ocean Blue. I would not want one without A/C. Tom had two other guys on this car. Vic said give Graeme first shout if its good he'll buy it and if not he won't. Tom came to Silverstone Saturday, no deposit necessary funds will be transferred tomorrow. Tom's thrown a new set of Schroth belts in with the deal and of course the diff will be sorted out. I would have no hesitation in recommending H&S, Vic has bought four cars from him over the years and I certainly would buy one again from him if I was in the market. He is very like minded in the sense that the kettles do not hold any interest for him much like they don't for us. Each to their own though. Tom's coming to Silverstone for a track day in August, said would I give him a few tips. I laughed and said I bet I won't teach you anything new. yours still smiling, Graeme
