Could that be the one Alvin bought? See thread over on 993 board. If you're really, really looking for one, a guy I know has an Arena Red/Black w/ ~63K asking $57K.

As of last night, someone was taking it for a PPI. But if you want to get a hold of him check out the ad at

Default Should had bought it last week!

I can't get a tt until I find out how a new project I'm working on at my new biz works out. But I happened to be in Palo Alto the morning their listing came up on craiglist for $5k less than it is now. I was supposed to get working on my project but set the nav for Stevens Creek BMW instead. I called in to get a description and turned back to SF when I found out it was arena red which is quickly growing on me. I had my heart set on silver or black.

Funny that there were three different Arena Red TT's listed in the last week in the bay area. The one Alvin got with 42k-ish miles and the two on craiglist with 56k and 62k miles. Hope they go to good homes.

Yes, I went to see this car yesterday. Needs full respray, no way around it, I am looking at a another car with higher mileage because the PO on the arena red one frightens me.

I echos MarkD's comment. I saw this car right even before it was placed on cars.com and autotrader. The car was a mess and absolutely need a full respray. The interior needs a full attention with TLC. I turned my back and moved on.

mine is a arena/ black with 42k miles and its 100% stock and was very well maintained. Got mine for 65k. I dont know but i might resell it for the same price .i know if i keep it longer it will just end up like the rest of my p cars. Never ending mods. If not slippery slope here i come again. .

I spoke with them this afternoon about the car. So as of this afternoon it was still for sale. It has had two PPI's and people passed. Typical sales guys though, "it is in perfect condition" Sounds like that is not the case.

I went down today around 4:30 to try and take a look at it but was told that it had been sold (I didn't see it on the lot either). I'd be interested knowing what they sold it for, it was originally listed on craigslist for like $48,XXX before they re-listed it and raised the price. Hopefully the new owner will give it the TLC it needs, the previous owner butchered the paint on the car.

I had the price down to their original posted price of approx 49K but wanted it about 2K lower due to the paint issues. I was also working on unloading a BMW I am selling... so there was a trade in involved (they would have made a couple thousand off of the BMW).
After a quality respray that would have still put it close to or a bit lower than current market value for a 56K mile 993tt. So, if fresh paint and TLC on the rear of interior was all it needed, not bad really.

What worried me was the lack of care the car had seen for a few years. And who the heck shoves (and I mean SHOVES) a golf bag in the back of a car like this to the point of chipping just about all of the paint off of the door jamb!
Still could have been a decent deal for someone. It depends on engine condition (leakdown test).

They had very recent receipts for $12K from the PO, clutch was main item on the ticket. Some other oil leak stuff (valve cover, etc.) too.

PS- When I buy a BMW again I will definitely go to these guys. They were very honest and didn't give me the oogie used car sales guy feeling. Very straight up in all aspects of negotiations. No BS.

MarkD - I think after all said and done (full respray, interior clean-up, etc.) the car would be up to or a little over market value. I think paint alone will set you back $10k if not more - especially in the Bay Area. And if that is case I would much rather buy a car with original paint and well cared for.

Hmm.. 10K for paint. Brings total to 59K. That leaves at least a few K for interior. In reality, the rear part of the center console was mangled and that was about it. Other rear interior stuff is easy and not much $... just a little cleanup and TLC.
Guess it depeds on what market value is.
Alvin just bought a 49K mile car same color for $65K.

I'm with you overall... a well cared for car would be a lot better even if it was a few thousand more!

I believe that a repray lowers the value considerably even if done correctly. Most people that want a 993tt want a well cared for original car. If one does paint their car it is recommended that lots of photos are taken before and after to show that the car was not hit.

Agreed the respray would lower the value but if it's done right and documented like Wasmer's car it's a good find. Maybe the paint is worse than the pics sent to me.
