The only disadvantage is that it allows dirt & debris to get to the turbos, hoses and everything else down there.. BUT .. it keeps the engine compartment much cooler so it should be taken off..

I will bet its the lower valve cover gaskets..... This is my winter project. remove turbos, have them freshened up and some little tricks...Remove Cats with Fabspeed pipes and REPLACE valve cover gaskets....Thats my leak..

The car only has 22K miles on it. Drove it again today, but gave it a longer cool down period, (drove at sub 3K rpm for last 3 minutes and then idled for 5 minutes before shut down) and no smoke. Hopefully it was just a minor leak that got on something hot. Lower valve gasket cover could be the culprit. I understand these cars do drip a bit of oil here and there... Thanks for all the input!

The only disadvantage I am aware of is a slight increase in drag. The cD on the 993tt was about .34 which wasn't too impressive compared to the lower figures on the 964 which didn't have an engine tray. There wasn't any NVH treatment on the tray.
