The oil pressure guage on my car will often 'spike' up to beyond level 5 and off the guage - when idling.

When the needle isn't jumping around the indicated pressure looks correct when driving.

However when the car idle's the needle will rapidly move up to the top of the guage and then down again - got or cold.

Any ideas what this could be?
