Default Protomotive 993tt 1/4 mile run

Went to the track today using 335 ra-1's in the rear for traction. PS2 295's cause the car to go sideways on the road. The ra-1's on the track are perfect. You can feel the rear of the car drift left/right a bit as you run down the track but it's not scary at all, rather extremely fun. Highly recommended.
The car was full weight, full gas tank, thru full mufflers.
Plan a run with gt3 seats, no 40# stereo amp, and muffler bypasses. Hope to hit 135mph. Launch was at 2000 rpm hence the mediocre et. Not interested in smoking more clutches at this point... 10's should be in reach with drag radials and the aforementioned mods.

Brad, sounds like fun. What gas are you running?

Amazing MPH, your car is making SERIOUS power! A good AWD launch (without destroying your car) should net you a 1.6-1.9 bringing down your ET to 11.1. Gains in the first 60' are amplified at the end of the 1/4 and will bring the ET down further. Your estimate of potential 10's is right on.

Good trap speed. It would be interesting to know its weight as was being run. You have a 100lbs savings or so from 2WD, offset by whatever you have such as your sound system it seems etc..

For perspective your 103-132mph time of 3.77 seconds is about a low 7 second 60-130mph run with 2 gearshifts which for a 3500lbs car would be very fast..

Filled up with 110 at the track before running and wanted to kick myself after realizing about the weight.
The track seems the same, covered w/ rubber from burnouts. There's about a 50% chance the right lane is faster, lol. That's the one I preferred anyway. Some killer '67 pro street barracuda's running mid 140's used the left lane.
Would like to run in the 10's but broken axles, wasted clutches, buying more tires, and especially possible tranny work are giving me pause.
Awesome to have someone able to analyze the data, really appreciate it. Disappointed that it's slower than Toby's 6.9 sec 60-130 though. :P
Todd said he would "short shift" it and so I was shifting at 6000rpm instead of the 6500-7000 with the stage 2 setup. This came naturally as the car didn't pat you in the back as much above 6000rpm seemingly anyway. Should be good for engine longevity at least..

Brad, how was MMM reacting to 130+ trap speeds...I had the feeling they are quite laid back, but what safety equipment did they require...6 pt, bar etc.. Again great trap and hope to see you at MMM and Gman this season. Kevin

Brad
Shortshifting will worsen your trap speed but favour your ET, depends on what you try to achieve.

The only way to know your 60-130mph is to actually try it a few times on a datalogger with good shifting, the rest is just my guess..

Any actual weight data or estimate?

Ugh, had to get to San Diego for a bit. Back now. Anyway, yes they were really laid back about the speeds. I had a helmet on and that was it. Was gonna run again Sunday but ended up on a plane to Cali. Hope to get the stereo and seats out, mufflers bypasses, maybe smaller battery. Need to go to mid-ohio next wednesday for a 3 day driving school so am focusing on that for now. My mechanic is eyeballing some brembro brakes for the front vs some 6pots from Vbob. I guess the stoptechs are out due to questionable reliability 'under fire'. Will probably leave the rear camber at -2.9 since it's mainly a track car. Jimmy told me 'this is not burger king, you can't have it your way' wrspt the camber so -2.9 it remains, lol. Will ask Claudio my mechanic to corner weigh the car after the gt3 seats are in. Must say to anyone considering a custom protomotive tune.... GET IT. The difference in how the car runs is night and day. It runs like a sewing machine now. Just awesome.

Thanks Vince. Say you have 20K for Todd. You drop it on the 993 or 996? Tough decision..

You already know the answer bud.
What wheels do you have to fit the 335 ra-1's. What are doing for clutch upgrades??

Am using forgelines; posted their sizes a few months back. Ended up going with an SSF "monster" cup clutch. It's good for 1000 ft-lb of torque instead of 800 like the other ones. The tilton's need mods to work w/ the 993's supposedly and this other clutch was only $1.1K. I wonder about going w/ the full protomotive intake and exhaust setup. Smoked a supercharged camaro yesterday, eyeballing running some 750/1000 crotch rockets to compare. Gingerman tomorrow!

Brad you would need more MPH to run 10's with a full weight 996 , at your current power level 11.2 is what i would expect to see ......
