Question Advice needed: Starting the engine after a 3-4 months 'stand still'.

The winter is soon gone (hopefully) in the south of Sweden...can't wait to drive the car again...

Are there any actions I need to take before starting my 993TT after 3-4 months without driving it?

Appreciate Your advice.

Peter

Mine sat for two months and fired right up with no issues

I removed the DME relay and cranked until up until oil pressure registered. Put relay back in and car started right away. Let idle for about 30 seconds, checked underneath for any oil leaks and slowly drove off until operating temp.

I thought I'd take the opportunity once we have a cpl of Swedes in the same thread to ask you guys something: Do you by chance know if the so called Xpipe system (manufactured by DACH and others), or the Xpipe cat system is streetlegal here in Sweden? Would if pass inspection? (both visual inspection and emission tests?). You guys probably know more than me so I thought I'd ask.. Plus I saw there was a group buy going on in thread for Xpipe cats... Very tempting Thanks guys

I've passed inspections with flying colors with muffler bypasses. Mostly since the guys at the SBP are often hardcore car fans. Once you remove the cats though, you'll have problems with emissions since those are tested by sensors.

However, since you have a NA engine, there is not much power to gain from the exhaust except that you can give that beautiful 993 of yours a rumble it deserves.

Hope to see your car this summer.
Ciao

Thats exactly what I thought, not to get the xpipes but then go for the xpipe cat system.. That would hopefully (IMO) together with a pair of RSR's, a motorsound airbox cover and some big ovals make a nice rumble indeed .. Dunno about powergain/powerloss though.. Will it remain the same? +-286hp? Thanks Magnus

I think you should ask about the RSR's in the 993 Forum since we're running a bit off-topic here. However, people have them in Sweden I know.

I'd guess you'll stay about the same output. But it will feel louder/faster
