Default cheap motronic upgrade?

I'd like to up the power on my tt to no more than 430/440bhp and the equivalent torque with just an ECU upgrade. I can't afford to spend more than £1500.

The ECU must be motronic and work fine with my 408 car which is completely standard apart from cargraphic sports mufflers.

Ideally I'd like the Porsche 430 chip as I have the additional oil cooler ready to fit - but I can't get hold of one and a new one from Porsche is too expensive.

I'd like advice on where I could get such a chip if anywhere? FVD springs to mind and if so does anyone have experience of this chip? I hear they may be made by RS tuning and supplied to FVD. Also the FVD chip comes with some scary looking small air intake kit and filter - again anyone comment on this?

Perhaps there are other companies who can offer a motronic chip upgrade that suits my requirments.

Many thanks
Kenny

I'd pick either www.ultimatemotorwerks.com or www.protomotive.com
Both have continued to update their software over the years and both provide great customer service.

would not spend more than 1000 USD on 430hp ECU only tuning - not worth it performancewise.

Go for a complete set or spend the money on track days.

Also any comments on FVD chips/tuning in general?

It's not clear if that's a chip or a complete ECU.

Amazingly enough the price is Europe is substantially higher at €2250=$2950; see this link

I have no idea whether it will work on your UK car. It is for the entire Motronic ECU however, no trade-in required. There were some FVD ECU reviews from a member on this site, might wanna try a search to see if you can dig it up, I recall it being favourable.

Kenny, assuming you have a PA 1000 alarm you'll almost certainly need an ECU with the drive block disabled. This can be done by someone with the Porsche System Tester PST or perhaps with a Bosch Hammer.

i had the FVD stage 2 ecu and it seemed to cut off on the high end, others had the same problem with their tuning i sent it back for reprogamming and the same problem persisted, i then sent the ecu to EVO afterwards and am still not too happy with the results not to mention the cel that came with it, am now considering sending it to protomotive or umw? Who has the best upgrade?

yeah the 440 kit which includes a powerflow kit is only a little more - though I'm wary of these intake systems, but if the ecu is designed to be used with them....not sure.

My car is November 95 being a MY96 car Phelix - do you know if there's a way to tell if I have pa1000?

Does the alarm have a remote integral to the key or separate?

sounds like you don't have the drive block system, but a PA1000 or something similar. Is the car RHD?
