I wouldn't discount dynos completely in this instance. I have personally found them very useful for sorting boost creep/over boosting. I have posted motec logs in the past that show the various boost issues you can experience with ecu contolled boost. Whilst I appreciate that motronic is constantly varying boost for the given circumstances, over boost/boost creep has some pretty obvious symptoms. Afterall, all the ecu can do is work out the desired boost level if there is a problem controlling boost you are clearly not going to hit your target boost...

1. when you say I won't blow it up, can you confirm I won't damage the engine or affect it's longevity?

Keep in mind that as the power gauge goes up, the longevity gauge goes down. That's unless you change some very expensive components to cope with the extra power. The amount of reduction may not be much with limited use of the power, but it is there. That said, none of us want to putt around off boost for 1,000,000 miles!

Yeah that's why I'm not going any further....my reckoning is porsche think 430 is ok on k16s so mine probably isn't any more than that - more torque mind.
I'm not a boost junkie anyway - to be fair I still sh*t myself everytime they spool up, it's great!

The question that I have is, how does he know where his boost is??
Aux boost gauge??
BTW save your money for larger turbochargers, skip the Cargraphics cats.. They arent' worth the monies spent on them.
