Default Wheels fitment (yeah... this topic again...)

Hi folks,

LTB some BBS LM wheels another Rlister is offering me. Here are the offsets:

Fr 8.5 x 18 ET 52 and R 10 x 18 ET 48.

I understand that this is a little different from the OEM (F: 8 X1 8 ET 52 and R: 10 X 18 ET40) but cant evaluate the impact...

-Will it fit without spacers?
-Wil I need special bolts?
-What's the impact on car's handling (larger front wheels, more offset on the rear)?

Thanks in advance

Pierre

you'll probably want to fit 10mm or 12mm spacers in the rear if you want the look between front and rear to balance out.

Spacers will not be required and handling will not be effected. The rear wheels will be a smidge further to the outside, but we're talking less than 1/3" in any spot front or rear.

Actually, the rears will be 8mm further to the inside.

No you actually have it backwards...these wheels have 8mm less positive offset so the outside surface of the wheel is 8mm further away from the fender compared to the stock wheels. The front wheel on the other hand will be 12-13mm closer to the fender, so while both front and rear will fit, they will look strange as the as that the rears will have almost 1" (actual 20-21mm) more fender clearance than the fronts....hence my suggestion for spacers in the rear.

I understand that spacers will be required in the back. 20-21mm difference is alot to me... That will also lead me to buy longer bolts... I think I'll just pass on these and find another set (or buy new...)

Thanks a lot guys, this is very valuable to me!

Thanks for the correction on which way the offset goes. Since the only change to the front is an extra 0.5"(12mm) in width, then the front should just be 0.25"(6mm) closer to the fender. The back is the same width with 0.33"(8mm) change in offset to the inside. This makes the total delta front to rear of about 0.55"(14mm) which seems pretty trivial to me and not worth spacing.

For reference my bbs LMs are 8x18 et 50 in front and 11x18 et 56 in the rear with 23 mm spacers in the rear (the bolts come on the spacers and you can use the same nuts you have), and I think my wheels are well balanced.
