Default 993 TT widest wheel

What is the largest rear wheel that someone has fitted for a 993 TT.
I am refinishing a set of OZ racing Techart wheels 3 piece 40 bolt wheels originally they were 8.5 x 18 f and 11 x 18 rear. I had several outer halves with curb rash, could not locate missing ones, so I have purchased (4) new halfs. When finshed wheels will be 8.75 x 18 front, and 11.6 x 18 rear. Next thing that happens is I stumble upon 3 3.6 Speedline Turbo wheels which would be proper for my 93 RSR project so I may sell the OZ wheels. The OZ wheels are currently disassembled for full polish on the centers and waiting on the new outer halves to arrive.

if anyone has a comment, or would like pictures of the OZ wheels email me and I will respond.

Jim,

Newbury Park????? Excellent. How about coming out to EuroCar Sunday in Calabasas tomorrow (Sunday) morning? I'll be out there around 8:00. Its held at the big shopping center just South of the 101 at Mulhulland. There are always some great cars there.

I think some have used 9" fronts and 12" rears.

Hope to see you.

12X18 will fit stock bodywork with the appropiate offset, Viperbob pioneered this one.
If you need to know I can try and dig out the actual offset number ?

who knows about 19" max width? My brakse wont clear a 18" wheel... and wide is the way to go to get that fat-mean-strong- im-gonna be fasterthan you look.

(not that i like that sort of stuff...)- i'm just asking for a "friend".

Some 18" wheels will clear your brakes up to a 380mm disc. Cargraphic Racing for one and BBS Magnesium/Aluminum do for sure. You can go 19"x11.5" if you find the right offset I think.

Jim, Maximum width is a function of offset more importantly. As TB mentioned, Bob used to have 9" fr. and 12" in the rear (Forgeline) and 335s but with rolled fenders, which is a simple thing to do.

Jim,

There's gonna be a huge "motor4toys" car show in Agoura (at Countrywide) this coming Sunday starting at 9:00am. Bring a toy for donation and join the fun. Email to me directly at ca993twin@yahoo.com.

Kevin,

There shouldn't really be any width differences between the 18" and 19" wheels. You can also check with Ruf to see if their newer 18" modulars will fit those brakes. That way you can keep it all Ruf.

thanks for all the input guys, and I was afraid just because I did not have a TT no one would answer. I picked these wheels because (they just happened to come along), were already 11" wide not 10, had a deep dish appearance, and rationed that since they had a deep dish probably would clear the rear suspension on a 964 without spacers being needed or rubbing. They actually fit better than a set of Speedline 10" wheel that I have that have ET 61(would have needed a spacer to keep from rubbing inside fender well). Then as I am making them perfect I ended up ordering 4 new halves and decided to increase outer rim width by 3/4" still shy of 12" but not by much and figured if I had to I could space out to fill wheel well. Still do not have my 965 quarters welded on, but coming sometime soon. Jim

Viperbob is the man with the info - he told me but I seem to have lost the information - I run a GT2 '04 rear which is 12X18ET45 with a 15mm spacer and that is right at the edge of my extended wheel arch.
The ET34 seems to ring a bell in my head for a stock tt - but you need to check with Bob.

Jim

Save yourself the headache and get Fikse wheels. They are custom made with exact offset for your car. I run 12x18 rear with no fender roll.
