Ruf 993 Turbo R Engine Conversion
The only problem with your logic is that you are COMPLETELY forgetting about the other car here. How do you know that your car got "smarter" or faster, and that the Viper wasnt now running extremely hot and may have been the one to slow down in this case? I do not know nearly as much as you guys, but I would think that the Viper's performance changes needs to be factored in as well.

And BTW, i say get that b!tch on a dyno. I just noticed Brabus in Newport has a 4 wheel dyno and they say they'll give it to you for 900$ an hour(not a definate answer though)
We love the Ruf and will likely never sell it. It's just a fantastic car and people still are amazed by the acceleration and sound at idle. I just brought it to the Montecito CA Cars & Coffee last week and people asked me why it sounded so different than all the other Porsche cars. When I said "it's a Ruf" they looked at me wide-eyed and said, "ah yes". It's amazing how many people still know what this car is. My friend and his teenage kids (one worked for R&T magazine) just got back from driving the new McLaren MP4-12C and asked me to take them out in the Ruf for comparison. They were absolutely amazed by the acceleration and thought it felt much faster than the McLaren. It's probably not, but the car has that feeling to it. Of all the cars we own, people still swear the Ruf is the fastest. There's just something about the 993TT that hasn't been duplicated in the newer cars.
I did a top-end rebuild a year ago at about 60,000 miles. It still felt strong and probably could have gone another 20K. Ollie's said the valves were "flattened" a bit, but that's normal even for the 993TT. The car felt even stronger until we replaced the aging knock sensors. Now it's a rocket again. It's just an outstanding car. Seeing that Roland still owns his, I suspect he agrees.

My greatest regret is letting go of my 993TT which was roughly moded akin to an R turbo at 490HP. I also had a 996 Turbo R but the 993 tt was a true 'teutonic terror'. I recall taking a really knowledgeable exotic affectionado for a spin in my 993tt, hammered it, and both of us exclaiming 'oh sh...', amazing. My Ferrari 458 Italia does the same thing, its just so brutal under WOT, but as exhilarating as it may be, one kind of expects it from a new, hyped Ferrari. My modded 993TT was always a delightful, electrifying suprise, a true 'teutonic terror' as I said. And here I am on Rennlist looking for 993 R turbos that might be for sale as an indication of my continued addiction.
