Lighteer 993TT flywheel
I just replaced the clutch on my 993TT. During R&R we found out that the pressure plate is not plane anymore. According to the shop this is common due to the spring pressure. Anyway we put a new pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing and a hybrid lighter flywheel. Decided to use the hybrid instead of the RS since I do not want to reprogram the ECU. The hybrid light flywheel weighs 20lb (instead of the RS 14lb).. Stock is 31lb.
We also replaced the clutch slave assist (the bomb) which is not storing/accumulating the hydraulic pressure anymore.
I'll give my take/impression of this work as soon as I have some seat time after I picked my car up later today.

Pram,
I thought RS flywheel incompatibility (stalling) with the stock ECU was only a problem on 1995 993 NA. Somehow, I was under the impression that the 96-97 models handled the lighter flywheel without problems.

That is correct.

LOL,....They do,......no ECU changes needed.

I got it from Andial and they advised to go with the hybrid 20lb instead of the 14lb RS due to idling problem.
You do feel the difference (especially in 1st and 2nd gear) but It is not something that you should go for unless you are also changing the clutch.

Light flywheel,
Andial is using a 19lbs flywheel because it allows smother take off in 1st. gear. Pram uses his TT mostly for pleasure, not DE or competition driving. Andial tries to advise their customers to get the best for their need, not the size of their wallet.

I have LWF from Steve Weiner in both of my cars and have had no idling problems and 1st gear take off for me has been fine/smooth and I sit in traffic for about 2-3 hours a day AT LEAST! I did have to go with Steve's ECU change but not for the LWF, just more more power :-)
Cheers,
