Default Help.....I am immobilized

I just went out to move my 1996 993TT. It hasn't been started in a while so I'm not sure about the battery or even if that has anything to do with my problem. The problem is..........that I was getting my son to move the car, the car had not been locked before he jumped in, he could not get it to start, I pulled the key shut the door, pushed the button a couple times trying to reset the alarm with him sitting in the car, it didn't seem to reset and I could not open the door from the outside, so for him to get out he had to open the door from the inside. I'm not sure if the alarm was on when he got out or not. But the alarm did not go off when he got out. After he got out I closed the door and pushed the reset.

Big problem.......car is now locked and the lights in the door are not blinking (does this mean the alarm is not set and the door is locked - does that even matter?) and when I try to unlock the car by pushing the reset button the alarm goes off (also the blinking lights in the door start blinking). If I wait a couple seconds I can push the reset and the alarm goes off (door lights go off). But the car is locked and I can't get in.

So.......either the door is locked or.... the alarm is going off and the door is still locked.

All suggestions will be appreciated.........

I was hoping someone would tell me that that would work.

Thanks!

Nope, it did not work. I'm not sure but I think my battery is down. I plugged in one of those wall charges that goes in the lighter for about 20 minutes and now the car locks and unlocks. It still does not start but I guess I can wait a little while and try it again.

Anyone know how long it should take to fully charge the battery with one of these battery keepers?

Any other suggestions?

You say it doesn't start. Any noises when you turn the key?

Yeah, it does. When I first tried it a couple hours ago you could barely hear a soft clicking. I just tried it again and it is now a much louder clicking. I guess the battery is dead. Will that battery keeper thiing recharge a dead battery?

It'll take a while. What's the rated charging input that it will provide? I'm guessing it's an amp or 2; that'll take maybe a day to charge a flat battery.

Good. I'll leave it on all night and check it out tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

Marty is right. Do not screw around with a marginal battery in a Porsche. Replace it.
