Hey guys, I've read that we need 2 layers of the "rope". How many do we need exactly? 1 or 2?

I'm aware this thread is pretty old but I was hoping some of you still have some piping lying around. I would appreciate if you could give me the exact outer diameter in mm. My next dealer is pretty far away so I want to try some generic stuff.
