Post 964 Turbo --> 993 Turbo, anyone?

Have any of you switched from a 964 Turbo to a 993 Turbo? Any thoughts for a person contemplating the switch?

Where I live, there is a 993 C4S parked within a few feet of my 964 Turbo. In some ways, the 964 Turbo is better looking, but in other ways, the 993 widebody is better looking. From a driving point of view, I remember my exploits in the 993 Turbo as being not as raw as the 964 Turbo, but that could be because the 400hp seems to move to centre stage when you drive that car.

Any thoughts from those that have made the switch?

Does a 94 3.6L Turbo count? If so, then I have. You are right in that the 964 was raw power and handling. I had a lot of mods done to my 964 turbo, and in process now of making mods to the 993TT. The styling of the 964 was awesome. I had a great GT2 wing on a Polar Silver car with the factory polished 18" 3 piece wheels (and freeking magnesium bolts that always looked like crap). The 993 is more aerodynamic, AWD, smoother power, better suspension, etc. You can't do anything but love both cars for their individuality.

It all comes down to what you like. You really can't go wrong either way.

Can offer my opinion on the 964 C4 versus the 993 TT if this helps. The 964 is very much more communicative and if truth be told a more enjoyable driving experience because of this communication. The 993tt insulates you from the driving experience to a great extent but that rush of power from 400+ Hp goes a long way towards covering this shortcoming. Both my cars have upgraded suspensions so I'm not really offering you opinions on a stock setup. The 964 has H&Rs' and the 993tt has PSS-9s' on it. Hope that helps.

cheers,
Kris
