You can contact Kevin (Ultimate Motor Works) for the various options for your car. Normally he takes the old turbos as cores, but if you want to keep them, expect to pay the core charge. He will probably want to know what octane fuel you use, and what programming you have in your ECU. Often, you will get the best performance witha complete package (turbos/ECU/exhaust) from a single tuner. Again, Kevin (among many others) is a well respected source on this board.

RS tuning kit
FVD kit
Kevin at Ulitmate Moterwerks
Protomotive
Imagine Auto

Buy a complete package, I piece mealed and it was harder to make work (possible but
more difficult).

It is many factors not only how they respond on your first phone call or email,
Several listed above (most and maybe all) have great follow-up service.

I don't think there is much out there for $3500 though. You gotta pay to play.

Best advice I'd give is to make sure the car is in top state of tune; I've seen two 993TTs that were not performing optimally due to poor state of tune.

Just out of curiousity, what were the components contributing to the poor state of tune?

What's the whole plan for the car and the objectives in terms of performance and driving?
Is it a '96? (different path for ECU mods)
What's the condition, miles, service history and any upgrades?

For $3500, you might get a pair of Garretts and have a shop weld on the flanges and run oil lines to it. But you'll still have to find budget for the ECU work. You can spray the K16's with some fogger oil and drop 'em in a box on the shelf, but they're not going to do much except let you revert to stock for resale.

If the car presently needs a major service, maybe suspension and a freshen up of the brakes, there's some dollars. Perhaps you're already factoring in maintenance and other work with a separate budget just for the turbos.

Well, there's lots of reading in this forum and most of what's been done of interest has occurred in the last three to five years. Some of the most recent advances in turbos negate some of the earlier work, but you can certainly read back over the last three years to five years.

Mainly ignition: plugs, wires, coils. Also the MAF.

Keeping the MAF clean is important and for sure the plugs. I'd probably put filters ahead of all that. And cap and rotor.
Lots of cars are going around with crappy diverter valves -- it seems that's another common weakness. You'd want to at least visually inspect the turbos if you were really wanting to be thorough and that creates a lot of "while I'm in there" activities.

I keep links to the movies from my Turbo's home page here: http://www.hpaownersclub.com/993tt/

Also reachable from my sig.

The dyno of my poorly running motor before the tuneup is there too
