I'm learning all the time... so what your saying is the heat of the engine cause the computer to roll back the timing, cutting the power....

kevin,
would a oilcooler spray (water mister) be of any use?
just a silly thought for the folks on the track for any lengths of time...

If the intercooler was an issue it got heat soaked would of this been resolved with the 996TT in the side vents?
Regarding the cylinder heads getting heat soaked its understandable but is it really effected after just a few laps?
If so watercooled 962/935 heads would be the way to go

The car in the movie is a 993GT2 not a 996GT2... 430HP and 2,900lbs--that is 6.7 lbs/HP. Lbs/HP does not make as much sense on the track unless you are comparing the same cars. Straight line acceleration is another story. The higher the boost (and theoretically the HP), the earlier you will generate heat, and the earlier your knock sensors will go nuts, and the more often your ECU will be pulling timing...

A TT running 1.2 Bar of boost and dyno 550HP will not last a 1/2 mile with more than 450HP. The 993GT2 runs 0.9 Bar I believe and see what happens to it.

Hmmm. The math is troubling me....

F40 472/2425=.1946 hp/lbs.
GT2 462/3175= .1455
GT3 412/3076= .1339
993tt 400/3307=.1209
993tt 600/3307=.1814

Clearly losing weight is KING.
