Default where can I get my brake calipers powder coated yellow?

I am looking at a blk/ blk 993tt

I think the yellow calipers are sweet, but have only seen one "super low mile" over priced car with this combo for sale...

how much should i expect to pay...?

Ima2nr,

I really like yellow calipers, especially on my Arena Red car... I will either get mine redone, or get bigger yellow brakes and sell my big reds. I've been told to expect to pay $500 to $800 to get the calipers redone... not sure if its powder coat or paint, however... and not sure which is best.

The car I purchased in the DC area has the clearcoat flaking on the red calipers.
Autothority quoted me $300 per caliper to remove and powder coat with decal. $1200 total. that seemed a bit excessive...I may remove them myself and I imagine any high quality shop that does powder coating can do it much cheaper if you remove them.

Ima2nr,

Different tire manufactures tires of the same "size" can be quite different. I'm using Pirelli Assemetericos, 255x30x19 front and 305x25x19 rear. My ~11" rear Ruf wheels can easily accomodate a 315 tire, and there is plenty of room for that width tire. However, the key question is "what is my offset?, and for that I don't have the answer. The Ruf wheels are for a narrow body, and they supply spacers for the wide bond applications. My spacers are ~26mm.

You will find that picking a tire size is pretty tricky stuff, because you want to have the front and rear rolling diameters to be pretty close, or you will put your viscous coupler at risk. Some say 5% difference is OK, but I don't know which way (which end of the car would have the taller tires) where that rather large number would work, or what is the "optimum". You can also get into some ABS issues if the tire diameters (front/rear) are very different.

The viscous coupler works when the rear tires start turning a lot faster than the fronts and cause the fluid to heat up which strats to transfer torque to the front wheels. My guess is that optimally, the rears should be very slightly smaller than the fronts to keep the fluid warm, but not overheated. This is my guess, and not backed up by anything but my intuition. 5% seems like too much.

Look on tirerack.com for tire specs to get the rolling diameters of the various brands you may consider. Like I said... this is tricky stuff.

Steven_H,

You may be correct about the "S" being the only 993 to come with yellow calipers as STANDARD, however, Porsche allowed the caliper color to be specified as an extra-cost option on any 993TT, and perhaps on the entire 993 line. Scott Mellor has the factory "titanium" (color, not material) calipers, and it was a major chunk of change.
