Look at www.tirerack.com for the "specs" for your particular brand/style of tire. They will list the appropriate width range for each size. Without knowing more, my guess is that it will "fit" but it will be stretched a bit. A 315 or even a 335 might be the optimum size for a 12" wheel. How about some pictures of your new car? Oh...and where's Waldo?
