Default Air filter sucked in ???

So I go to check out a 96 993TT that is for sale.
The car is very nice, 30k miles. I start looking through the service records for the car and come upon a repair order that says; "car towed in, customer claims engine runs bad", and further down the repair order; "air filter sucked into intake manifold". Is this common with these cars ??? I'm wondering what other damage this might have caused besides the usual things that would happen to any engine if this happened (turbos ???).
Thanks.

I'm not a wrench, but I've been reading Rennlist for 3.5 years, and have NEVER heard of this happening. If you're really curious, did you try a search?

It would be almost impossible for this to happen. The air filter could have been clogged thru lack of service. But it could have been sucked into the engine intake.

The rear inlet assy houses the MAF.. It would have hit the MAF is it got sucked in.. There must have been somthing else that we are missing.

Get your leakdown test and general PPI if you like it.

Steve,

I did a search, could'nt find anything. I also have never heard of this.

Kevin,

You're right, there is probably part of the story missing, all I know is what was on the repair order.
At any rate, it probably indicates an owner that did'nt take care of the car, maybe I'll have to pass on this one.

The search continues.
Thanks guys.
