Default Best sound/ performance exhaust?

I have a custom exhaust on my car at the moment, but I'm just not pleased with the sound (a little to tamed). Anyone have any suggestions on loud or deep sounding system out there?

I haven't heard them all, but here's my experience:

stock cats + B&B mufflers k16 : way too quiet for me
stock cats + muffler bypasses k16 : as good as it gets
race cats + Roock mufflers k16/k24 hybrid : a bit too quiet for me
race cats + muffler bypasses k16/k24 hybrid : Oh baby. You can really hear the Ruf cams. Nasty. Some say its too loud, others say its the best sounding turbo they've ever heard.
cat bypass + FVD (?) muffler k24 : a liitle deeper, but similar to option 2, above
cat bypass + muffler bypass k24 : an eardrum torture test

One thing to keep in mind... turbos cars simply don't have the sweet note of an NA car. Our only compensation is to blow them off the road.

<edit> added turbo-type

Sure,
Do a search for muffler bypasses. If it's not deep enough for you, do another search for cat bypasses.
You'll even get less Turbo lag!

I'm sure there are some sound clips floating around here also..

Steve,
I noticed one funny thing.
A 993TT with K16 Turbos has a slightly higher exhaust note than a K24!
It is actually noticable.

Rassel,

Thanks for that tidbit. I'll go back and edit my post to reflect that the last two entries were K24-equipped cars.

i have cargraphic mufflers and they sound great. Have a great idle that people always ask why a turbo sounds so good. Also, they dont have an annoying drone, nor sound like a motor boat the way bypass pipes do. i highly recommend them if you want to keep mufflers on the car.

Still pretty new to me but I love the sound of the Fabspeed muffler bypass on my car. It removes almost 75 pounds at a good spot too... Since I also love boating so I'm an happy guy!!

You should listen to this set up first - I tried it and it was far too loud, like a big inboard Mastercraft when at idle.
IMO the best sound (with flow) is big cats and Cargraphic mufflers.

Nevrstl,

Obviously, there is a wide range of opinions, and this is a case where only YOUR opinion matters. Luckily, this is a really easy thing to test out... find a local Rennlister with a set of bypasses and pop them on your car. Its a very simple installation. See what you think. Start a new thread "Need to test a set of bypasses in the Livermore area", and see what climbs out of the woodwork.

nvrsetl: def do the muffler bypasses first and see if u like them before going all out with race cats AND muf bypasses. not only will u will lose those mufflers (and the assoc lbs) in the rear, but spool is greatly improved (esp in first). the sound at idle is sweet and WOT is downright RAW and Nasty...i love it.
i personally would NOT want it any louder than it is already with just muffler bypasses, but to each his own. i drove through parking lot the other day and set off 4-5 car alarms looking for a spot

I like the FVD "export" mufflers I added a few months ago. They don't have the motorboat sound and most importantly, do not drone at any rpm in the car. They sound more raspy than the ususal motorboat sound. They are built by Dansk, an OEM supplier for Porsche and are polished and well built. My two cents.. Regards, Pat

Anybody out there running the AWE Tunning setup? Their on-line video sure sounds good.
