A quick question.

I recently checked the voltage across my battery using a multimeter and got the following readings:

Idle = 13.1 V

Rev and hold at 3.5k revs = 13.5 V

Are these readings ok? Since I had always assumed the voltage at idle should be around 14V, rising to ~14.3 when driving.

Does seem low. What happens to the voltage level with lots of load like lights and heater blower? It should only drop but a tenth or two

Your car is perfect, try checking tire pressures or something if you are bored!

Seriously though, these readings are spot-on, if you are seeing a lot of voltage instability then it's another story and you might need to check your voltage regulator..Very unlikely though, and only if you are seeing high voltage spikes.

The 13.5 volts at 3.5K is low for moderate temperatures . If you have a low maintenance battery it isnt being charged completely !! Dont leave you lights on .
