Default Need help selecting different tranny gears

With the tranny out, now seems the time to switch some gears. Any recommendations? Currently 3rd gear has me buzzin at 6-6.5K rpm so am constantly switching to 4th between turns.
Thanks

Talk to Steve at Rennsport in Portland, that's his specialty.

Also talk to LAT (who has his transmission out at RUF/Germany right now)
who is currently selecting gear ratios.
On 6speed there is a gentleman who recently rebuilt his 996TT transmission
and added all the good stuff including changing 1st and 2nd gears to being much
taller and the rest 3-6th being shorter for a max speed of 180 mph. It makes
an incredible performance enhancement ($10,000).

I changed 6th to a taller one 0.7 and it was too long for the stock 430hp. Shift from 5th to 6th was only smooth when shifting at red line in 5th.
Ask Jean with gear ratios, he concerned himself a lot with gear ratios when building his car.

At the moment it is not easy to get all the ratios you want, at least in Germany the manufacturers seem to be understocked. I tried to help Lat out with his gears with no success. Sorry again Lat.

Brad,

Try the tranny guru himself, Brian Copans, at 513-779-3302. He is the guy Porsche Motorsports uses!!He has done a total tranny re-gear for a 993TT like yours!! Tell him I sent you. I'm heading to his shop on Thursday for a new billet Porsche Motorsports RSR LSD.
