In Finland, our maximum legal road speedlimit is only 120km/h
..but fortunately we have some special happenings like SpeedParty.
Purpose of the competitive is get as high top speed as possible on 1.8 km distance. Braking happens after that distance.
Here are few records from result list:
Car Best(km/h)
Toyota Supra JZA80 BLITZ 1994 303
Fiat X 1/9 Bertone 301
Porsche 911 Turbo (996) 293
Lamborghini Gallardo E-Gear 275
Porsche 911 (996) Geballa GTR 600 265
Opel Ascona A 2.0 turbo 265
Audi RS4 MTM 261
BMW M5 E60 260
Volvo S60 T5 258
Toyota Celica GSi-16 (Turbo) 258
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Est) 256
Mercedes-Benz 600 SL 246
Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (996) 245
Nissan 200SX S14a 245
BMW M3 E46 245
Saab 9000 2.3t 244
Porsche 944 Turbo (Swe) 244
Nissan 300 ZX 244
Ford Sierra 2.0 (RS Cosworth) 240
Saab 9-3 239
Volvo S60 T5 "R" 237
I know that here(RL) are also very fast 993TTs. Can some of you test your car's high speed with that distance? ..just wondering what kind of possibilities I will have on that competition. My project will be ready for summer..
Best Regards
Juha with 993TT, 3.8 TS, Garretts, RS Cams, 100cells, PSS9, etc. etc.

Fiat X1/9 Bertone----> 301 Km/H???
I used to race them and beat them with my skateboard when I was a kid (about 2 years ago)!
There are some tests for a mile run (1.6Kms) I don't know of any showing 1.8Kms..

Fiat Race car on acid looks like quite the "ride"
Fiat race car shown above with ??? engine == 0-178 in 30 seconds (very fast)
Recent 0 - 1 mile test that compared several street cars, tuner cars and a couple race cars:
RUF R Turbo (driven 4 hours to test site) == 0-180 in 28.6 seconds (1 mile)
Lambo Murcielago == 0-168 in 30.9 seconds (1 mile)
Ruf "yellow bird" == 0-186 in 28.6 seconds (1 mile)
Ford GT == 0-171 in 29.9 seconds (1 mile)
Vortech supercharged mustang == 0-179 in 30.4 seconds (1 mile)

The Gemballa is not a 996TT, it is a 996 GT3 with Gemballa's GTR600 motor (that kind of car did a lap time of 7.32.x (same as CGT!!) at the Nürburging in 2001 (driver was Wolfgang Kaufmann)...
Anyway I was told and I've seen a small vid that the car at the speedparty did only 265km/h because it was at the rev limiter! (I have no idea why it would have such short gear ratios installed...guess it accelerates crazy)
js-911, can you tell me something about your car (got a modded 996tt in the garage here in Finland) via PM or mail

I don't have any such acceleration run unfortunately. I also never try top speed runs as I do not really believe in what they prove. If you have the complete runs we can benchmark other measurments in between?.

Hello
One more from Finland joining.. The Gemballa GTR 600 should definetly have joined the top of the list, but as mentioned earlier the car is Uwe Alzens old GT3 with Rear wheel drive. The car has had some problems with the engine electronics... can that be the cause?
I´m also intrested in your cars specs js-911, post some info! Will you get the car running the coming summer? (summer, well snowing at the moment and the first autocross is due in 2 1/2 weeks...)
