Jean, if I haven't sold my turbo S already. It's not me so it must be someone else.
The guys are no professional race car drivers, they were invited to participate as VIP guests. The 997 CUP is a tricky car to drive as well. Takes practise so these guys are at a disadvantage.
You might to go MoTeC to get the gearbox to run correctly if you can't get the ECU to work.

Thanks Chris, downshifting is the same like the normal gearbox, using the clutch, so I will try to get it right
Geoffrey, there are some aftermarket suppliers that have products to smoothen out the shifts, and they also act as rev limiters.. I will need to investigate further and find out how they were using them on the GT2 back in the day.
Khalid
I guess you are getting a 997TT? In fact the Bahraini guys were lapping 3 seconds+ behind the pros at 2:08, so their performance was excellent.
This is a shot of one of their cars that I took during practice..

Jean, you obviously didn't look at my signiture.
I'm getting a 997 GT3 club sport, April production, here sometime in May, hopefully.
Looking forward to seeing you with your beast. Have fun with the new gearbox, you'll get the hang of it soon enough.

The 964 & 993 ECU have this functionality built-in. On the 964 if you jumper pin #39 to ground the ECU will watch pin #51 for 5 volts. If it doesn't see it the ignition timing gets pulled, so definitely talk to Todd K first.

Great info! I will talk to Todd for sure concerning what my Carrera ECU can do. Thanks My car is like having an identity crisis, a TT body, with a N/A brain, a bastard engine and race car wannabe
Thanks MOD, you haven't been posting here for a while?
Khalid, great buy!!

I (and everyone else I suspect) eagerly await your driving impressions when the new gearbox is installed. I think the experience of frapping down the track, punching the shift lever will be near Utopian, rather like one felt as an adolescent when sliding down the rope in gym class.

Thanks guys, you make me feel a bit better for doing something so stupidly interesting
Ziad, Konrad is a tough cookie, but I am such a pain in the a$$ I will be in Bahrain on Saturday morning for the installation (Julian), drop by! Khalid you too, let's grab a coffee.
On a technical note, just discovered that the electronic switch that goes into the ECU (you can see the wire on the lever) can cause damage to the chain tensioner on the TT engines, according to the Konrad engineers who spoke to the mechanic doing the installation.. No clue why. I am calling to check what the solution is..

Jean, is this switch for SWOL (shift without lift)? I presume its for a throttle cut which enables the dogs to release before the shift can happen.
Let me know if you have questions with respect to SWOL, I have a lot of experience with this area.

I tried tp speak to Konrad yesterday but they were on the track in Sebring and could not hear anything. I will talk to him again.
The chain tensioner issue has me worried, I think I will run it without the SWOL for the time being by the time I get this clarified.
The issue with the solution that Jason (thanks) mentioned is that Pin 51 goes to the transmission input and pin 39 goes to the variant
ID plug. So, it sounds like you'd be calling it a tiptronic and pulling pin 51 to ground runs the car normal, 5v retards timing for shifts. This may work, but it may also select many other maps due to the variant id coding? A fuel cut would be preferable instead, I am not sure if it needs a full cut or only partial?
Any input Chris will be welcome.
