Movie - can one drive the 993 tt on ice?
Here is a short filmclip of my 993 tt a week ago on a lake in Sweden. The red quattro I am chasing is my old car driven by my son.

Thanks for sharing!
I have had one of those "old" AUDI Quattro Coupes (1984?) going 125 mph on ice also
(lake minnetonka, circa 1985).
Love the sound of you hitting the rev limiter!
what kind of Ice spikes/studs are you using?
Marty

Holy crap! I can't decide what's better:the video, the music that accompanies it or the laughter when the Audi is sideways right in front of the tt! You are the MAN!!!

What a fantastic clip! Thanks for sharing!
What tyres etc were you using? How did you find the handling of the car on ice? And compared to the Audi? C'mon... you can't just post a clip without all the details!!

Porsche on ice - details
I have driven quattro the last 12 years and the red quattro is my latest Audi. I changed to the 993 tt last summer, and it is still in the family as my son has bought it. It is a heavy modified urquattro with Sportquattro front and wings, engine and gearbox from Audi RS2 (produced by Porsche) Turbonetics turbo, S1 replica exhaust manifolds, upgraded cams, no cats, free flow exhaust. 450 hp and 1250 kg.
Quattro with torsen differential. Porsche brakes and upgraded adjustable K&W suspension. There are plenty of Porscheparts in it!
The tires are ordinary rallytires 16" 100mm wide with 400 spikes that have about 6mm overhang. They provide massive grip on the ice and the quattro uses it effectively and pulls itself inwards in the turns. The quattro is far more brutal than the Porsche and driven right, there is no way to beat it with the Porsche (on ice that is). My son drove faster than me, which was noted by my fellow drivers. For some reason my son is a motorhead, and I do take some credit for his driving, but I assume you guys agree with me that he should pay more respect to his old man on the track.
The Porsche has about 500 hp and 750 Nm (KKK24 and Ruf R cams) so it has plenty of power, but with 1500 kg and most of it in the rear, it is truly a handful.
The wheels are 6x16 front and 8x16 rear and with spacers there is a full millimeter clearance to the calipers. I have PSS9 on the softest and have raised it 50mm front and 40mm back which is good for ordinary winter driving as well. We drove to and from Sweden a good 400 km on twisty winter roads each way. Good fun that too.
I changed the viscouse coupling so it was brand new. There is not much grip in the front. But with plenty of wheelspin, the front wheels are forced to work, but they dont provide much assistance. It is like driving a true rear wheel drive, and the heavy tail wants to be in front all the time. My experience is that a drift-angle of more than say 30-35 degrees is impossible to control. There are considerable less tolerances than driving other cars. Having said that, it was quite an experience and good fun that I can recommend.

It is refreshing to see father and son are having such a blast sliding cars, hope my sons grow up to be almost as stupid as me.
Great video, that is some serious control over the TT, I personally cannot keep mine from doing 360s on a dry track at 40 degrees temp with slicks! Rennlister "Ziad" experienced it first hand this last week end on the Bahrain F1 track
Keep'em coming!
