Default Best Porsche model to not lose value

I might be tipping my hat posting in this forum but I'm wondering which model do you think will retain it's value best. I've only bought new Porsches- 96 C4S, 993 cab, 01 TT, 05 c4S cab and now a new 997S. Each time I lose $15-20k after a year or two. I love the cars and don't feel bad about the $$ but it would be nice to buy a Porsche for a change that's done with most of the depreciation. I tried buying an old Speedster- loved the looks but the old 356's are just not as fun to drive. Although I've never owned one, the 993 TT has to be the most beautiful Porsche ever. Will a nice example hold it's value? Seems almost a cult following and deservedly so. Thanks for your input.

If you want to beat the depreciation curve stay away from any new car, but you prob. know that already. I read somewhere that the 993tt is going to be a appreaciating car this year, I think it was Sports Car Market Letter. I think they will remain stable in value personally.

Buy a rare car thats ar least 5 years old car and make sure you look after it well. 993 TT S fits the bill perfectly but also the 993 TT. 930 Cabs and RS models have also proven to have low or no depreciation.
If the depreciation does not worry you then just get the car you want and enjoy.

The 993 C2S has done especially well in depreciation in the last 3 years or so.

If you're looking for Porsche models that are less than 15 years old I'd either pick the '94 964 3.6T and/or the '91/'92 964 3.3T. Relative to the 993TT there were very few of them made and they seem to be a thrill to drive. I think the 993TT has some more depreciation to come due to the rapid depreciation of older 996TT models. For that reason I believe that the C2S (and maybe even the C4S) will probably fare a little better value wise over the next couple of years than the 993TT. Nevertheless, I'd get the model that's right for you. I only use the depreciation argument with my wife.

Thanks - especially Frank. I also use the depreciation argument with my wife and don't mind losing a little for all the enjoyment I get out of the car. I really like the 993 C2S as well as the turbo... I guess I'll look for the best example of each and that will help with my decision.

I think Frank has it right. The 91-92 and 94 turbo's have really been hanging in there over the last couple of years and they made very few of them for the U.S. market. The additional thing that they have going for them is that they look really "classic" with those big hips. They represent the Porsche you dreamed of as a kid.
If you watched the Barrett-Jackson auctions at all, I'm sure that you were stunned at what people were paying for Muscle Cars. Same phenominum at work. Those were the cars the bidders dreamed of as kids.

If you buy a higher mileage car in decent shape and maintain it, you'll lose nothing on resale.

Over hear 964 RS, 993 RS and 993GT2 are appreciating in fact good GT2's are going for silly money , for at least $200k and as high as $260k

For those interested in the 993tt it is Silver/Black Carbon Fiber it is not my car, the details have not been filled in yet. The owner brought his car to a local independent and he called me, I am not sure they really know what these cars bring. Here is the number 248-681-8081, this is in Waterford, Michigan.
Good Luck to all
