For $60-65K you only get the 12 valve version.

I considered this car before I recently bought my '97...it's a nice car with some nice upgrades, but I do think the price is too high.

And I certainly hope the prices are starting to appreciate, but I think it's too soon to clearly see a trend.

I seem to be in the minority here, but the asking price on this car from a dealer seem about average right now. If the car is sound, I suspect it will sell within 10 percent of this asking price.

From the armchair perspective, we as a group seem to always tell folks to find the cheap $55K - $60K cars. However, the number of these out there are getting few and most of those car have maintenance issues or some sort of story. One missed item on a PPI could easily be $5K+ to correct...

Considering the maintenace costs of bringing a normally maintained car up to most of our fanatical "standards", I would sure recommend someone looking for a 993TT focus on in depth condition, the costs to correct the obvious TLC needs, price offset for color and options as a major factor to determining value. Of course, a VERY thorough PPI is an aboslute must on these cars !

Just my $0.02

Jim, I beg to differ. I work with folks across the country in numerous markets with cars of varying pedigree (maintenance records, stories, etc). What I have seen from successul aquisitions is in the ballpark I represented. Of course there will be the high end dealer looking to make an extra 15-20%. But the market price for most place is that this car is WAY overpriced, regardless of the maintenance records (if it even has any, or if it can pass a PPI).

I don't know Bob. I have been looking on and off for some time and the car advertised may not be worth $75K but $60k, that's questionable. If the car checks out and the history is good, why would a 46k mile car be worth only $60k? From what I have seen, if the PPI's came back good on a car like that with no negative history, it would be a $65-$68k car.

Bob:

You are welcome to differ but we ALL have resources and use them in our own way. Some of us may opt to take a different approach in considering total acquisition cost(s) and value of any particular vehicle.

Sure, cars around the country you see and hear about may "sell" for more and even less than what you feel is correct. However, we all judge total sales cost in different ways.

As example, sales price + what else ? Was there needed and preventative maintenance as well as possible shipping just to get a particular car to its buyer and have it usable to their expectations ?

As someone who wrenches, you might accept a vehicle with more TLC needed but higher "base book value" than someone else. However, to a "non-wrench" these simple costs you accept could represent a lot of $$$ and make that more "fairly" priced cars actually more expensive to them.

Considering all aspects of a purchase, not just base purchase price was again, simply my $0.02.

"Keoni1978" can take All opinons here as he/she see fit. After all, this is a forum, isn't it ???

Regards

For $75K, it should have half the mileage stated in the ad.

Too high with the miles on this, don't care what the upgrades are. These cars are more mileage sensative for retail. The trend for this year on the retail side isn't clear yet, but it looks like its going up for sure. IMO this car needs at least 15k less miles on it to bring that kind of money.

I think were all going to get some answers with respect to value in the next few months......

Has anyone actually seen/examined this car?

It looks like a great example and it's peaked my interest (at a lower price of course).

I'm very curious to hear...

With a good PPI $65K would be fair to both buyer and seller. Understand that there is a LOT of money in Newport so they are always going to the high side. Their hope is that somebody will come in off the street, like it and buy it on the spot. They can always negotiate down, but not up.
