Default This May be A Sad Time!

My sister-in-law may quit her job and go to school full time. This is great news since she wants to finally get her degree but that means that I may loose my rental tenant. She has been renting my house for almost three years but the future is up in the air. Therefore I may have to think of selling 'Waldo'. I really don't want to but I am not willing to take that gamble. I could sell the house but the area is developing so much that the house may not sell in a timely manner. If anyone is interested please let me know. God I will miss the car if I have to sell.

I had a similar situation..but instead I put my flat on craiglist and it got rented pretty quickly. Try posting it ( the house ) on www.craigslist.com to see if you get any takers..

speednme: I don't know if I want to rent to someone that I don't know or that I can't meet in person to get an idea of their personality. I live in Seattle, WA and the house is in San Antonio, TX so this is a problem. Renting to family made this so much easier. We'll see what happens.

Ignacio,

I hope you can work this out so you don't have to sell Waldo. I know what a great car that is... even better since you've owned him. Trust me... its very hard to replace a car that nice!

ca993twin: Don't remind me how hard it would be to replace this car.

Why not get a real estate management company to take on the rental/management of the property. These services are not that expensive and you get piece of mind knowing that someone else has to fix the broken toilet at 3am!! Besides, they'll do all the checking on prospective tenants that would take you forever. Just a thought. Would hate to see you sell the car!!!! Good luck, either way.

labcars nailed it, just relax and think things through. I'm not totally appraised of the market in WA but you might be surprised how easy it may be to get it rented again. Being in real estate myself its a commodity you have there, make it work for you. Regardless of economic conditions people in this country always need 3 things, transportation, housing and cigarettes (ha). Find another renter and solve your problem.

Tom Larkins: The house is in Texas. I am just preparing for the worse so we'll see what actually happens. I will enjoy the car while I still own it.

Am I missing something? I think we Germans did a lot of bad things but we did not bomb Pearl Harbor!

Or is this out of a movie or so

He is referring to a scene in the movie "Animal House". The actor in my avaitor said that among other well know lines. Quite appropriate quote in the context of iborrels dilemma with his rental. He meant nothing by it, rent the movie and learn.

Good lord, I hope r-listers from overseas didn't think that was a picture of what I looked like.

Air Kuul TT: Dallas is about 4-5 hours away from San Antonio.
