Not my preference, but i believe that as our cars get older, the unusual colors will be more 'cool' and acceptable. Sorta how a id love an old 911 in tangerine or mexico blue, but would probably not want a new car in those colors.

The purple is sorta need.

What is the value of a 26,000 mile 993 TT ? Retail and wholesale ?

Of course you have to subtract for that kind of color.

I was at the factory in 10/95 picking up my car and saw two purple porsches in the delivery center. One was a turbo and the other was an RS. Both cars with the lower ride height and special wheels were stunning. I asked the porsche escort where the cars were headed and he replied that most of the more unique colors go to Hong Kong and Italy. He said unlike the USA
those buyers tend to personalize rather than the silver, black, red and white that are predominant in the states. That got me to thinking, why shouldn't your porsche be a little different. I'm not buying it for the next owner.

It was a bargain for him, it was for sale at Bentley of Downers Grove, and I would speculate that he picked it up for under sixty and is trying to flip it.

I actually like the color that Rassel posted!!
Jay, I did not know you bought your car new from Germany,
very nice!!! There is a guy here locally that did the same thing
and he still drives his 95/96 993TT to work sometimes (with
GT2 wing!) Nice.

Marty
I had special ordered a speed yellow coupe that had black sport seats with yellow stitching, delete back seat, turbo brakes, yellow seat belts, 18" (first carrera in usa with 18's) sport suspension. I only had it a month and dealership called me with a with a new blk/blk turbo but the guy wanted my car after seeing it, rather than his turbo. So I got my trip to the factory and the turbo that I had wanted but were sold out.
FWIW, the trip to the factory to pick up your car is about the best car adventure you can have. Porsche at that time limited it to 30 cars for delivery.
I met some great friends on that trip that we still travel with. I considering doing a RUF car next year in Germany.

There's an off chance that this TT was used for racing, I found this in Alex's eBay feedback:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8001537613

However he may have come across those racing slicks elsewhere...

Cheers,

Vic

Welcome aboard Vic, interesting first post. If that car was raced is wasn't on the West Coast, I would have seen it....

Hi there Vic,

Welcome to Rennlist, observant of you to find those tires

I doubt he used the car for racing, but probably from some DE.
No stonechips, no repaint, heavy stereo equipment and a ride height like tractor.

Default Car guy trips...

JJay,
I am planning to travel to Ruf with a friend to pick up his car in April
I went to Leipzig with a friend (to see his car being built) in March of 04
I went to Ruf in 95 and had a BTR overnight to "test it out"
Best trips of my life (and I have not even bought anything over there yet,
although it pays to have "car guy buddies")
